Nicrew Legs Out Front Pet Dog Carrier Dog Carrier Backpack, Black (XLarge)

This is a well made and thoughtfully designed carrier. I carried my pooch in it long enough to believe that, had my dog actually fit into this, it would be great. My dog really enjoyed it too. The issue with this, and likely all of the out-front carriers, is that the measurement between front and back legs is critically important to a comfortable fit for the dog and the human. Using the guide, I had to buy an XL for my 14 pound mixed breed who is part pomeranian and part daschund (so he has an unusually long body for a thin, small dog). The XL was SO big that his whole body almost slipped through the leg-openings but, had the distance between arm and leg openings been 1 inch shorter, that would not have worked either. So, that means that this brand cannot work for my dog. I looked at at least 10 other similar products and it seems that all of them use the same standard measurements so we just may not be able to use this sort of carrier (which is sad because it's a great idea ... for short times, of course, as the dog cannot really adjust positions and would certainly be uncomfortable after a relatively short time). When considering sizing and the instructions say size up when any measurement falls below standard, just go with your gut ... if you end up with an XL for a dog under 20 pounds or so by following the instructions, it just isn't going to work. I was able to take the dog into stores and other venues where he would otherwise not have been permitted and we took him on long walks where this afforded him a chance to periodically rest). If anybody has found one of these that works for a long bodied dog, I would sure love to know about it!

The item is nice. The design is simple, efficient and the quality of the fabric is ok. However, to work at its best, that is to say, to provide the proper support to your pet, the size must perfectly match the volume of your pet's body. For a skinny Boston terrier I tried L and XL. The XL was a little bit bigger and it did not hang the animal properly which led to a rupture of the fabric. Differently, the L size, worked very well and supported my Boston Terrier very well. But... as you see at the picture the strap below the neck is a bit inconvenient and should had been able to reach a bit higher towards the neck, so I would say that the size is not perfect. I wish they had a size between L and XL.

Amazing carrier! We bought it to bring our 13lb mini poodle on bikerides, and she loves it! We get a lot of compliments that she looks very relaxed, sometimes we'll even plop her in to go to the store or for a long walk when she's feeling tired. XL seems good, I wonder if a L would have worked as well. Definitely recommend.

This item was well made and if it had been for a small dog it would probably have been fine. My cat, however, although he is fine in regular cat backpacks, kept almost falling out and it was very hard to get him into this carrier. I wouldn't recommend for a cat, really. However, despite sending it back with the mailing label as instructed, and paying for a Purolator Courier to come and pick it up at my office, I am now out over $60.00 for this item and have not received any refund - and I am a Prime Member.
