Major design flaw.
Whoever designed this slide hammer has obviously never used one. The price is good, the execution of design, not so much. One thing is the size and type of thread, it won't work with thread on clamps, or any other attachments made for slide hammers in the USA. That's not as big a deal as the other problem. The handle is just a short piece of pipe that threads on, with a washer to hold the hammer from sliding off the end. The problem is nothing holds the washer in place, it just slides down the shaft. When you use this thing as intended , it's easy to get your palm pinched between the washer and the handle, creating an instant nasty blood blister. Now I have to weld the washer to the handle, like it should have been to begin with. The slide hammer will no longer fit in the case, but at least I can use it without endangering myself.

Very Pleased
Been having intermittent engine problems with my truck over past year & my mechanic couldn't pinpoint the problem with the vague codes that were recorded on the truck's computer. Consequently, I decided that maybe I should purchase one of these diagnostic scanners so I could monitor the engine with live data. I settled on the BB600 because of the good reviews & the reasonable pricing for the amount of features offered.Although I have not experienced any codes thus far, I am thoroughly happy with my purchase because of the ease of use & more importantly, the excellent customer service provided by the company. After I received the unit, I had some questions, so I emailed the company late on a Wednesday afternoon. I live in Hawaii, so there was the issue of being in a different time zone & yet Trevor responded within two hours. He answered all of my questions & offered some helpful advice. I was further impressed with Trevor because he also did a followup email several days later with more information related to the problem I had been experiencing with my truck. You'd be hard pressed to find another company with this kind of customer service. As for the BB600 unit itself, it appears to be well made, chuck full of features & as mentioned earlier, simple to use. The only small gripe I have is that the cord is a little short if it is plugged in to obtain live data during driving. On my Toyota Tacoma, the unit, while plugged in, will at most just reach my lap. Because it would be difficult to monitor the scanner while driving alone during an occurrence, I had planned on having someone ride with me but that person would be bent over from the passenger seat trying to read it. The cord is approximately 26". Another 18-24" would be perfect. All in all, love the unit & highly recommend it!

I would say avoid
Broke within 30 minutes of ownership. Probably the 5th heavy slide hammer I’ve purchased in approximately 30 years of collision repair. I have never broken one before. This one lasted a whole 26 minutes or so. Maybe it was just a random defect. They gave me a half refund and let me keep the useless tool. I would say avoid.

Handle won't screw back on after first use.
Item came in a timely manor, seems a decent price for what you get and what it does. Issue I had after first use is when I went to take it back apart to store away, the threads inside the handle that twists on appears to have damaged threads on the inside now. I had to use 2 channel locks to get the handle off. Threads on the pipe seems fine on both ends and even tried a different attachment on the end I installed the handle on. Not sure what to do at this point. Will see if this is a standard rigid pipe thread and look for a handle of some sort to use or try to find a threading tool to chase the threads inside the handle. Might just weld it and cut out the side of the storage case. No instruction manual for how to use it.-UPDATE- not a standard pipe thread that I could find to match. Ended up cutting off the couplings and welding on new ones with a standard thread. Will see how long it lasts.

Great little product. Save me money.
I have a 2004 Volvo S40 and the CEL came on and I called a few garages and said they needed at least $60 to run a diagnostic check on the vehicle so I went on Amazon and looked around for some diagnostic scanners and after looking, reading reviews and checking out the prices, I decided to purchase the Big Banana scanner. I don't regret it. During the time I was waiting for my scanner, I parked my Volvo and used my other car which is a 2012 Fiat Pop. I went to the Volvo and hooked up the Banana, turned the car on (but not start) the diagnostic scanner did some initializing and finally came to the menu. Followed the instructions and it came up with "cylinder 2 misfire". Now I am not a mechanic by all means so I went to YouTube and searched "cylinder 2 misfire" and it showed the procedure on what might cause the probLem. So I went to the parts store, picked up 4 new spark plugs and changed all of them cause I didn't want to just change one and not the others. I cleared the CEL, started the car and boom....no CEL and no misfiring and stalling on the vehicle as I test drove it for a couple of miles. Its been a month now and my Volvo is running smooth and wonderful. Thanks Big Banana for paying for itself with one use. If a CEL light comes on with my other vehicles then I know who to turn to.....The Big Banana. :)

I am happy with my Big Banana
Yay...This machine does what Amazon said it would do. I have a VW Golf 2006 and I whilst the car is great, I do get really hacked off when any number of engine fault issues come along and ruin my day. Why is it that it is NEVER the engine that is broken, always seems like it is a faulty sensor. This time it was a air flow sensor (this sensor had only been replaced by the dealer last month). I thought to myself "Stuff it" I parked the car in the shed and got on Amazon to order this little machine.I am in New Zealand so I cannot go down to my local shop and buy this sort of gear and it has been about 2 weeks since I put the car away in the shed, but I got home from work today to find the little package waiting and it took me about 1 minute to read that fault code and clear the little sucker....I didn't even read the instructions, it was that easy.Tony Pietersma in New Zealand
