Amazing Customer Service, great product, needs a tweek for perfect
I ordered these after trying an off brand on Amazon. The off brand was adequate but had a lot of sound bleed. When I received my first pair of Shokz Open Runs they were AWESOME. extremely light, flexible, comfortable, I could wear all day without a headache, sounded great, and battery lasted ALL DAY!!! These were my go to headset for about two months. One day they bugged out and started triggering my hands free assistant. After charging them overnight, as I usually do, they were unresponsive. The warranty claim was easy to initiate but was overall slower than expected turn around time. About fourish weeks from starting a claim to receiving a new headset. Still, receiving a new headset was a plus. Used my replacement headset for about two weeks and the very same thing happened again. Called the warranty number and talked to a real person in Texas. I explained and he asked me how long I charge the unit for. I responded overnight. He said thats probably why they keep shorting out.... What? Its 2023. I havent had to time how long I charge something since I was a child and bought my toys at Radio Shack back in 1980. He told me it takes 2-3 hours to charge completely. Anything more may damage the battery. I asked is there no battery overcharge protection built into a $130 pair of headphones and he said no. Seriously good customer service experience overall but the product itself is lacking in durability. I don't have the time or brain power to remember to take a pair of headphones off the charger before they get damaged. After going over the included instructions, I can find no mention of charging times, however I do see operating temperatures and environments appropriate to its use. As seen in the photo, it states 32°-113°F. I work outside, in hot muggy Missouri,I sweat, profusely. I guess if you plan on sweating, don't use these outside in the summer, or winter, and plan your day around babysitting the charging of your headset, these might be the headset for you. I am returning mine for a refund. I hate giving low star rating. However no amount of customer service or usability can out weigh durability and an obvious flaw. I have hafld dozens of BT headsets from $-$$$. All of which have lasted years, charging overnight or longer. Please fix this issue and I would repurchase and give 6 stars if I could. UPDATE About two days after i emailed the company for an exchange (the refund window closed at 45 days) i was emailed a return lable. Less than a week after I made the phone call mentioned above, I received a replacement (and then some) in the mail. The product may have an issue but the 100% customers experience really does make up for the inconvenience. Keep innovative and refining your product, keep your A+ customer service, and you will dominate the wireless sound market.

Bone Conducting Headphones are the way to go
When it comes to headphones, I consider myself a well-seasoned veteran. I've tried all sorts—from earbuds to over-ears—but none have captivated me quite like Aftershokz. A friend introduced me to this hidden gem four years ago, and since then, I've been spreading the Aftershokz gospel to anyone who'll listen—friends, co-workers, and even random gym buddies. The Problem with Traditional Headphones I've always hated the sensation of having something jammed into my ear canal, which often left me irritated and uncomfortable. It's like your ears are pleading for a breath of fresh air, especially during intense workouts. It’s equally concerning when sweat starts to build up in and around the ears, affecting both sound quality and comfort. Enter the game-changer: Aftershokz and their bone-conducting technology. The Genius Behind Bone-Conducting Technology The moment I tried Aftershokz, I knew they were different—in a good way. They sit outside the ear, and through bone-conducting technology, transmit sound vibrations directly to your inner ear. Sounds complicated, but it's just plain genius! This tech frees up your ears to hear the world around you. It's especially handy for running outdoors or multitasking at work, allowing you to be aware of your surroundings while jamming out to your favorite tunes. A Pair for Every Occasion I've owned various models over the past four years, as Aftershokz has continuously updated their product line with even more features and comfort enhancements. Currently, I own two pairs—one for work and another for workouts. You might wonder why two pairs? Well, each has its purpose. Work Mode At work, the Aftershokz headphones are my go-to for focus and productivity. I use them for Zoom or Teams calls every day for work. They are comfortable enough to wear for extended periods, and the battery life is nothing short of impressive, lasting me throughout the workday without needing a recharge. Workout Warriors For workouts, these headphones are a revelation. Traditional headphones would get slippery and lose their fit when drenched in sweat. With Aftershokz, that’s a problem of the past. They stay in place, even during the most vigorous exercises, and I don't have to worry about moisture affecting the sound quality. The Verdict I wholeheartedly endorse Aftershokz headphones. They've become an integral part of both my work and fitness routines, providing unmatched comfort, impeccable sound quality, and the freedom to stay connected to the world around me. If you've ever felt the limitations of traditional headphones, give Aftershokz a try. Your ears will thank you, and you'll wonder how you ever lived without them.

Comfortable, durable, easy to use,
My husband works in a steel fabrication company, so he is around lots of chemicals, heavy equipment, dirt , metal flakes, ECT. The headphones are easy to use, he can wear them with a ball cap , hard hat without issues. They are portable, and comfortable, and durable. He is on his second pair, after 3years. They last a long time. The only reason I got him this style is because he wanted the curved ones, as in the picture. He can still hear his music ,calls even being in or around heavy equipment and loud surroundings. 10/10 we always recommend to lots of people

An Audiophile's Perspective On Sound Quality
There are some very obvious advantages to this technology over traditional headphones. You don't lose your situational awareness because your ears remain uncovered, you aren't sticking potentially filthy things into your ears, the design means you are less likely to lose them or have them fall out while you are exercising, they are much more compact than a set of over-the-ear headphones, they don't interfere with glasses, they are sweat and rainproof, etc. It is not hard to come up with a lot of scenarios where these are really the ideal headphone design. But the one issue people kept complaining about in the reviews I read before buying these was sound quality. Some people said these headphones are really only good enough for audiobooks, others said they happily listen to music on them regularly without issue. Which is it? I ran these things through my very demanding "speaker stress test" playlist and here are my results: The mids are generally ok, reasonably crisp. The highs are also reasonably well defined. Nothing that made me swoon with delight, but it was all perfectly serviceable for going on a run. Honestly, I assumed they would sound tinny and awful throughout the entire range, so I was pleasantly surprised at how well they handled vocals, guitar, strings, piano, horns etc. But lots of music also has bass notes, and this is where the sound signature just kind of falls apart. If you are already familiar with how the bass rolls off too early on a cheap stereo, this is very much like that. Except that the bass roll off point is at an even higher frequency than you expect. I don't know how low these can go, but basically they have almost no bass response, and what little they have is muddy and generally quite poor. Now that I understand what these can do and what they can't, it's pretty easy to understand why the sound quality reviews are all over the map. Basically, people have varying musical tastes and affinity for bass. If you are listening almost exclusively to hip-hop these are going to seem essentially unusable. If you listen to a violin concerto you will be fairly happy. Rock songs will have the vocals and guitar, but only the top half the drums rendered correctly. Importantly, they also can't get terribly loud without vibrating against the side of your head in a weird, annoying way. I could generally find a comfortable volume where this wasn't an issue, but you will not be drowning out any ambient noise with these, particularly since your ears remain uncovered. So you really can't use these in any sort of loud environment without earplugs And if you are putting in ear plugs, you might as well use in-ear headphones instead. Walking around on a normal, urban street with these is generally fine, but anything louder than that and you may have some issues with these. I did listen to an audiobook on these and thought they did a great job, and they were reasonably comfortable to wear for well over an hour. So probably their ideal use is listening to a podcast or audiobook while walking in a quiet park, or anywhere where you must maintain situational awareness. I think that means these are fine for what they are, and if you need the considerable advantages they have, you live with the trade offs. Yes, it is possible to listen to music on them, and at least some music actually sounds reasonably decent on them, particularly if you are in a quiet place. But if you don't need the various advantages they have, then get yourself some regular, full-range headphones that will provide a much better bass response than these. I am certainly not going to hang up my $300 planar magnetic headphones in favor of these when listening at home. But for listening to an audiobook while walking the dog, commuting and riding my bike, they will be fine.

comfortable to use, impressive technology
I've waited to write a review until I had enough experience using the Shokz OpenRun headset to be thorough. They are very comfortable to wear and I like that using the bone conduction it leaves your ears open to hear other sounds that might be important (like a car coming up behind you) or the doorbell during a zoom meeting or listening to music. I wear readers when using the computer or reading, and the Shokz don't really interfere, although you have to remember which is "on top" when you go to take one or the other off. The technology continues to amaze me and the sound quality is quite remarkable. I do have to adjust the volume up or down sometimes depending on the source I'm using, but the volume control is easy to use. I have used it with my laptop, with my Pixel phone and with my VIZIO TV and it pairs easily with all of them. (as with any bluetooth device, you do have to have some awareness which device it's pairing with when you turn it on.) I can't say that I'm aware of how much noise suppression it's doing because the environments I've been in haven't been that noisy so far - I will be on an airplane next week, and that should give me a better idea. But it's clearly working because I had both my PC and phone on the same Zoom meeting last week, and there was a slight delay in the sound off the phone versus what I was hearing thru the Shokz on the PC, but it did not create any feedback or echo for me or for the other people on the Zoom. I got the larger size which is actually a little bit larger than my head, which I think is a little larger than average (does anyone know their hat size any more?). The small was definitely too small (using their handy online measuring tape). The only time I notice this is when I lean my head back against something like a pillow and the solid band at the back of my head has to adjust to a higher or lower angle - this moves the sound devices in front of the ear slightly, but it doesn't seem to affect the sound noticeably. The button to answer a call, mute the mic or hold a playback is easy to learn. Finally, I wondered what was meant in the product description about a magnetic charger cable but you quickly realize that the polarity of the magnet makes sure that the charger is connected in the correct orientation. A friend of mine had recommended this model. Finally, the battery life seems to be what is claimed, although I haven't yet actually used them for 8 hours without a break. I might mention that Zoom recognizes that these are high quality music capable and sets the audio appropriately.

They fit snugly but not too tight, and I can wear them for hours without any discomfort. The lightweight design is perfect for extended workouts, and they stay in place no matter how intense my exercise routine gets. Durability: These headphones are built to last. They've been through some intense workouts, including rain and sweat, and they've come out unscathed. The build quality is exceptional, and they feel like they can take on whatever challenges I throw at them. Battery Life: I was pleasantly surprised by the battery life. I can use these headphones for several hours without worrying about recharging. This is a significant plus for anyone who spends a lot of time on the move. Bluetooth Connectivity: Pairing the Shokz Open Run with my devices was a breeze. The Bluetooth connection has been rock-solid, and I've had no issues with dropouts or interruptions during my workouts. Phone Calls: The microphone quality on these headphones is surprisingly good. I can take calls without any issues, and the person on the other end can hear me clearly, even when I'm in a noisy environment. Open-Ear Design: The open-ear design is a game-changer for safety. I can enjoy my music and stay aware of my surroundings, making them perfect for outdoor activities and running in busy areas. In summary, the Shokz Open Run bone conduction headphones have become an essential part of my daily routine. The combination of excellent sound quality, comfort, durability, and long battery life makes these headphones a top choice for fitness enthusiasts and anyone who values both music and safety during their activities. I highly recommend the Shokz Open Run to anyone in search of a premium audio experience. Say goodbye to traditional headphones, and embrace a new way to enjoy your music!

“Perfect for Staying Safe—and Sound—on the Move!”
My husband absolutely loves these SHOKZ OpenRun headphones. He often says how amazing it is to hear his music clearly while still staying fully aware of everything around him—whether it’s cars passing, traffic signals, or simply chatting with someone on the sidewalk. The open‑ear design is a total game-changer—no more struggling to choose between immersive sound and situational awareness. They’re incredibly lightweight—around 26 g—and feel like nothing around his head. He can wear them for long runs or workouts without feeling weighed down. The wraparound titanium frame stays secure and comfortable even during intense movement. One of his favorite features is the battery life. He gets about 8 hours of music and calls on a full charge, and the quick‑charge feature is a lifesaver—just 10 minutes plugged in gives about 1.5 hours of playback. Perfect for mornings when he forgets to charge the night before. They’re also built to last—with an IP67 rating, they’re sweat-proof and fully waterproof (up to 1 m for 30 min), so rainy runs or sweaty gym sessions don’t faze them. Plus, the moisture-detection alert adds peace of mind when charging. Sound-wise, they deliver music through bone conduction, so while the experience isn’t as immersive as in-ear earbuds, the clarity and balance are surprisingly good for open-ear design. Vocals come through clearly, and the sound is motivating—perfect for his workouts. Plus, they perform consistently during exercise—secure fit, reliable Bluetooth, and zero ear fatigue.

Super Comfortable, Great Battery Life
I use headphones ALL the time. As a, em, domestic engineer, my days are spent submersed in the joy of dishes, laundry, dusting, vacuuming, etc. Music & talking on the phone are my go to joys while dealing with the drudgery of my life. As an iPhone user, I have always just bought the corded iPhone headphones, except for one brief moment of insanity where I bought a $15 dollar pair of wireless ear buds. (I should mention that I tend to be very very "frugal" aka cheap) As you can imagine those did not last long. A friend of mine has been raving about these for over a year. I FINALLY decided to buy some as the corded headphones really didn't work well for talking on the phone, as well as I couldn't wear them for as long as I would like as my ears would start to hurt. Oh my gosh, these are the most amazing headphones ever. Not only can my husband no longer sneak up on me while I am beebopping around the house (he votes this as a negative) I can actually hear both my music & if someone is talking to me (he votes this as a positive), I can wear these all day (did I mention I really like to listen to music throughout the day?) without my ears hurting. The battery, for me, has lasted well over three days, and charges amazingly quick. I was able to get to full battery charge in under two hours (don't know how long, had run to grocery store while charging) Furthermore I have not needed to have my phone with me for these to work. The range is incredible. I have a three story house and can be on any floor, or out front or out back and still have crystal clear audio with my phone stationary inside. I have been informed that the mic is crystal clear on calls. There are a few minor drawbacks that a buyer should be aware of. First, there is no comfortable way to wear these while laying down, so no listening to a podcast or music while your spouse is watching tv in bed. Also, if you wear glasses - overall these are still pretty darn comfortable but I find after a few hours they do start to hurt where the eyeglass ear piece sits, while with my contacts in there is no issue. In short - well worth the money, great buy.

Fantastic for runners and cyclists
The Shokz Open Runs use bone conduction technology that lets you listen to music, while still being aware of your surroundings. Note that if you are looking for a pair of earbuds that have excellent noise cancelling (these have none at all) or good sound quality, this is NOT where you should be looking. These are designed specifically for people who want to be aware of their surroundings while they are running or cycling. I decided to buy these because I was tired of having my earbuds fall out of my ears while I'm running, and also felt like it was not very safe running around and not being able to hear your surroundings at all. I don't find them very good for the gym, since they have a wrap around band on the back, so they will get in the way if you do any exercise where your head is resting against a bench (also gyms typically like to play extremely loud music, so you probably won't be able to hear anything). As a runner, these are great. They stay in firmly place (even with lots of rain and sweat), are very comfortable (wore it for a long 2-3 hour run with no problems), and you will be able to hear everything around you, which is pretty important if you train near roads where there are a lot of cars and other people. The bluetooth range is perfectly good, I pair it up with my Garmin 255 and I have had no issues with dropouts (I have noticed that a lot of cheaper bluetooth headphones often drop out while you are running). The only downside is that the audio quality is OK at best, and they perform pretty averagely once you turn up the volume. That being said, audio quality is not what I'm looking for in a pair of earbuds specifically made for running. Definitely a must have if you are a runner or cyclist. If you are using it for anything else, I would look elsewhere.
