Great Little Vacuum and a Great Price
I was originally looking for that really expensive brand stick vacuum but just couldn't see paying so much money and ended up landing on this one based upon the reviews of others. I am quite pleased with it. I will say that I am a single person living with one non-shedding dog and one shedding cat so the amount of dirt and dust tracked in is smaller than it would be for a family. Even though I have listed a couple of cons below, I still gave it 5 stars because it meets what I was looking for, does the job and is a great price.PROS: I love that it is rechargeable. It stays charged long enough for me to vacuum my living and bedroom carpet and the hall, dining room and kitchen hardwood and has some charge to spare. (I keep forgetting to actually time it) The carpet head is very maneuverable, has a very low profile and lays out flat to get under most furniture items. It is narrow so isn't going to sweep a wide path with each pass but that also allows it to fit in tight spaces. Although the motor doesn't sound like it's very strong (it is quiet) I have been surprised each time I've used it how much it picks up. The dirt cup is full after doing the above mentioned areas. When the handheld section is detached from the upright section, it has two attachments, the crevice tool that is conveniently located in the back of the housing and the small carpet type brush roller head for use on furniture, steps, car interiors etc. It works well and again picked up a lot of dirt and cat hair.CONS: This unit feels top heavy to me and feels heavy when using it, either attached to the carpet head or detached for the handheld.I am 65 and do not have the upper body strength that I once had and I find myself switching hands often because it makes my shoulders tired. (But I chose to count this as upper body exercise and am getting used to it!) The unit also will not stand up on it's own so you have to find a place in a corner to lean it when not in use and charging. It would be nice if it came with a bracket. Also, there is no dusting brush attachment nor a non-roller type head that you could use on drapes or other vertical surfaces.

This is a poor product
When we first bought the Dirt Devil, we had problems with it right away and returned it to Amazon and asked for a replacement. The new one worked well for awhile, but then we began having problems with the battery. No mater how long we charged it, including overnight, it only provided about 30 minutes of energy. This was about 2 weeks past the Amazon return time, so we were stuck with it.But a new problem developed. Say there are some crumbs on the floor. The vacuum is passed over them several times before they actually stay in the vacuum. Eventually the room floor is clean but it takes much longer to finish it. So, it is one big disappointment. Looks like we will be searching for a vacuum repair shop.

Works pretty well and the battery lasts long enough for it ...
Works pretty well and the battery lasts long enough for it never to have run out on me. The small power head is pretty useless though as it's not articulating. Sometimes the vacuum does spray small sand around before it finally vacs it up, but it works well for most things. It works equally well on carpet and hardwood; tile is where you get the most "spraying" because of the grout lines. One other downside is the weight. It does not have good weigh distribution like a Dyson does. It begins to feel heavy on my wrist after a few minutes, but it's nothing I can't deal with for it's other attributes (namely the long battery life and price). I tried 2 other cordless vacuums before this one (of of them a Dyson) and returned them because they both had flaws. The Dyson was expensive and the brush roll refused to spin on most carpets. The Dibea (a Chinese Dyson knockoff for half the price) worked very well on hardwood floors but didn't have a true "brushroll" (rather a line of fuzz that spun) so couldn't vac carpet. This vacuum is a great compromise for the price.

It's a Love - Hate relationship
I loved this little vac until it fell over and I understood why my mother and father bought three over the course of two years. If you let it drop, or it falls out of the charger holder for any reason, kiss the powered head goodbye. Turns into a floppy useless piece of junk and you'll hate yourself for loving it. And they don't sell replacements!Initially I had a special relationship with this vacuum. My wife thought it was stupid but I loved the little thing for cleaning up my studio carpets. So quick and easy, and it hangs right in the little charger thingy I put on the wall. She chuckles. What I learned:1) Suction is good but don't bother with it on hard floors with particulate debris like saw dust or flecks of whatever, it'll shoot those out behind the head and you won't notice until you turn around. Pain in the butt.2) Battery life is good, but suction blows on green so you'll always gun it up to blue.3) Components are very difficult to take apart. I'm a fairly capable man but this thing is the dumbest designed contraption with regard to switching the fittings. I can hear my Bissell canister vac laughing at me from the other room when I'm trying to work with this thing. So it's been real little Devil, but I might have to say goodbye forever.
