Access For Dummies (For Dummies (Computer/Tech))

While good at the basics it fails to get into the deeper mysteries of Access - and users will know there are plenty of those. Aimed at the first-time user. For those who need a bit more, you might try Access 2013 For Dummies, or look online.

I needed this book for a new job and I've found it very helpful.

Geared more towards novice users, although it is easy to understand. Was missing a few things for my needs but a good reference book if you do not have complicated situations to resolve.

Well written and enjoyable read. Ulrich & Cook cover the basics without going down too many rabbit holes (Spoiler Alert: Access has about a million potential rabbit holes! SQL, VBA, etc.).I have but two minor quibbles, and I understand that writing and publishing a book like this isn’t as easy as the internet would have us readers believe:1. The link for the example database file on electronic page 157 is dead and did not work. Attempted to contact Wiley and received zero useful info. Ended up going to the Access 2019 Dummies book by the same authors to find a sample file that was mostly accurate.2. At one point in the book, the authors set up a query that did not include a “status” field, yet the image in the book a couple of pages later show the query results sorted by “status”.Thanks again for producing an enjoyable and useful book about MS Access.

Maybe it is just me but, I am having a hard time reading what is on the pictures of the screenshots because they are faded or printed very lightly. I checked an older For Dummies book I had and the printing was a lot darker. The text seems fine though.
