Tibetan Tantra
Though brief, this book provides insight into the meaning of tantra and into its history. Not meant to be a tutorial, this book has information not found in other texts about the tantra, at least not in those which I have read. I was surprised to discover that there is at least one very important difference between the Hindu teaching of tantra and the Tibetan Buddhist teaching. Scholars will find the description of the texts of the tantra useful and the brief history of the works interesting. Non-English words and terms are all translated and defined. The accessory material, made up of explanatory notes, a list of references and an annotated bibliography on the books of Kiu-te, comprise more than a third of the total work. Intended for the specialist, this book is very well done and a pleasure to read.
