I love Primal... but not these bars.
I have to say that Primal Kitchen's customer service has far exceeded expectations, and based on my previous dealings with them, that is a pretty high bar. Mark Sisson has built a company he can be proud of. Their responsiveness to customer concerns is second to none.Since my final review I have been in touch with Primal Kitchen, and was very pleased by their response. They were able to get fresh bars to me, which they also mentioned had been reformulated. I can't say which did the trick, but there was a definite difference between the new ones and the original batch that was received. Although I wont say they taste like a candy bar, who would expect them to? They are a quality food source, with more Grass Fed Collagen Protein than you will find in most sources. The texture and the taste are much improved from the ones I tried before. I am not a fan of the chocolate hazelnut bar, but that is because it reminds me of Nutella, which I can not stand. But someone who likes it would probably enjoy it very much, without all the unhealthy ingredients in that product. The others taste far better than expected, and have a good balance of chewiness and crunchiness. I would definitely recommend them, with the caveat that they order direct from Primal Kitchen, to be sure that they are getting bars that are as fresh as possible, shipped and packaged to ensure they taste as they should.Additionally, the original seller and/or Amazon did the right thing on both orders, so I am giving a 5 star review to both for their resolution of this matter.***Original One Star Review appears below.I love the Primal Blueprint, and have read (and purchased) everything Mark Sission has written. With the help of the 21 day transformation and Mark's Daily Apple I went from over 240 pounds to a healthy 185 in the course of a few months, and never felt better. I even had the pleasure of meeting Mark in NYC when I was first starting on my Primal journey. I have also used many of the primal kitchen products (love the mayo!) and the protein and supplement lines, all with great satisfaction.I feel it is necessary to say all of that, because it is very hard for me to believe just how unexpectedly disappointing these bars were. Because of my confidence in Primal Kitchen Products, I ordered these on a recurring subscription, along with the other 3 flavors in the multipack, figuring that would give me 30 bars, one a day for pre-workout or breakfast, depending on the day. I even unpacked them all to split them up between home and work. When I tried the first, which was one from this box, I thought I surely must have gotten an old or expired batch. No such luck - they are supposed to be good until 2018! However I figured I would give the others a try, since they were from a different shipper, perhaps they would be better. Again no such luck. they are sticky, tough, and virtually inedible. Worst of all, I am unable to even attempt to return them, as I removed them from the original boxes. The bars on this order from Primal Nutrition were: ***EDIT - All bars were from WishingUWell. These wont allow returns!***Macadamia Sea Salt - AL2018The other batch of bars ordered was from a shipper called WishingUWell, (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N9HAZSV/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and these were equally disappointing, although they seem to have more questionable dates:Coconut Cashew - OC2017 (Should they even ship those?)Dark Chocolate Almond - DE2017 (these were sticky, like chewing tree sap)Chocolate Hazelnut - FE2018 (at least that is reasonably in the future, but no help taste-wise)Sadly I can not return these due to the damaged packaging and them being a food item, some of which have been consumed.Even with the discounted cost from the subscription they still average about $2 per bar, so $60 of my grocery budget it shot to hell for October.Note: review duplicated in other supplier review, as it applies to both.

Definitely not for everybody
I like these bars overall and will continue buying them as needed. Although I'd much rather eat real food than bars, there are times where my schedule is too hectic to allow for a proper meal, and these keep me going. They also satisfy me when I feel a candy bar craving, although they're not sweet. But the texture is a huge problem. I live in a hot environment, and these bars get super sticky if I'm carrying them around in my purse for part of the day, but I can't eat them straight out of the fridge because then they're too tough. Maybe that's just how it is for a collagen bar, but if they're this sticky during autumn, I doubt they'll hold up to our summer heat. The price is another drawback for me. I don't doubt the quality of the ingredients, and I really like the nutrition profile, but these are expensive. If you're on a tight budget, you'll have to think hard about whether your particular use case justifies the expenditure. Right now I'm using them as meal replacements when there's no other option; that's a rare enough situation that I can justify the cost. The flavors are subtle, but I like that. I hate the coconut cashew one but love the macadamia sea salt and also enjoy the dark chocolate. I've not tried the hazelnut variety. If you want a sweet bar, look elsewhere. If you're considering these, I wouldn't advise splurging for a whole box to start. Try one of each to test flavor and texture. There's no other bar out there quite like these, so they're worth trying but they're definitely not for everyone.

Mark Sisson's Primal Kitchen Dark Chocolate Almond Bars - Chewy, Gooey and Taste Bud Tempting
As far as the nutrition goes, this is a GREAT bar.230 calories1.7 oz (48) gramsTotal Carbs 14 grams - Dietary Fiber 6 grams = 8 net carbs15 grams of protein3 grams sugarGluten FreeDairy FreeGrass-Fed CollagenPaleo ApprovedThis is a VERY dense and chewy bar - the chocolate and nuts are very satisfying. Monkfruit is the sweetener, which I prefer over Stevia any day. My bars were shipped in the summer and "melted". I think the bars would stick to the wrapper regardless due to their consistency. My main PEEVE about ALL the protein bars is that they are all in MYLAR or similar packaging, which is in direct CONFLICT. It puts toxin right back into the food chain through landfills. I continue to look for and try nutrition-dense, low carb, "organic" protein bars.If you like a "cakier" bar, Costco's Kirkland Brand protein bars are a bite of paleo heaven. They come in two-flavor boxes. Nutrient-dense ingredients but AGAIN they are in MYLAR, non-recyclable packaging. They also stick to the wrapper as well.Kirkland Protein BarChocolate Brownie190 calories1 gram sugar, 4 net carbs, 21 grams proten, 15 grams fiberMilk and Whey ProteinErythritol and Stevia for sweetnersCertified Gluten FreeChocolate Chip Brownie60 grams1 gram sugar3 grams net carbs21 grams protein15 grams fiberMilk protein isolateWhey protein isolateErythritol and Stevia for sweeteners

Squished and melted
My box arrived deformed and broken. The insides were melted and squished into blobs. Doesn't taste so bad, but at $5 a bar, I expected better.
