It’s thin like a bed sheet or a tablecloth. There’s not much weight to it so it might not be safe for the floor as far as tripping hazards go.

I don't think the grass would poke thru. It is not super thick, but it is tightly woven. I have two of them and have washed them a dozen times and they hold up well. Nice quality.
