IF YOU WANT TO BURN BLUE RAY 100gb DISCS - DO NOT BUY
okay, so the product will play Blu ray films - through VLC , if you are tech savvy. (legitimate blu rays i must add) That's alright, i figured what needed to be done, to be able to play them. HOWEVER, i burnt 1 Bluray 100gb Disc, for storage... that went okay, burnt fine..... but after that single burn, this drive will not, it cannot, it refuses (despite what program i use) want to burn again... its like it's a single use burn drive (for blu ray 100gb discs at least)... i had the drive level, stable, vibration; literally anything i thought might be casuing an issue - but hear me out - i tried 5, yes, thats 5 new 100gb discs, every time, the drive made the same noises, and didnt want to burn anything (this is only for for 100gb Blue ray discs (verbatim i must add) so, AVOID THIS, if you intend to use it to burn backups. instead ive purchased a drive thats much more reputable, as im in the process of backing up multiple hardrives - for anyone who wants to know... i used power iso (which worked fine for ONE BURN) thereafter, i kept getting the error "987a9b".

Just don't burn disks at full speed
I mostly use this as a reader. I can't recommend using it as a burner. At maximum speed it will refuse to burn DVDs the first 3-10 times and then the DVD it does burn… works in the drive itself but you're in for a bad time if you try to use it in a DVD player unless you've applied a very conservative bitrate. You must be patient with it. With that caveat, I have no complaints unless it dies some time in the next 6 months

could be better
Since i have had it, on occasion it will freeze, skip or randomly eject. if the drive isn't perfectly flat it doesn't work.

great quality , elegant looks
great quality , elegant looks, only drawback is that i had to spend £40 on software for it to work, be great if it came with the Blu Ray player application ready to install

DOES NOT PLAY FILMS!
I bought this player so I could watch my Blu-ray films on my laptop however it doesn’t. After doing some research I discovered that most external Blu-ray drives don’t play regular encoded films but, if you’re not tech minded, you would assume that it was the whole point of a Blu-ray drive ( my external dvd drive plays encoded dvds!).I think this should be clearly stated in the description. I will be returning it.
