Smooth & With A Subtle Sherry Sweetness To It
This is quite a light whiskey in both colour and taste, but with a smoothness and subtle sweetness that is enjoyable and I could definitely taste the sherry influence. We tried it with friends as is, but I also attempted the Irish coffee recipe on the Amazon listing for it, but not very successfully. The cream just didn't sit at the top liked the photo. It was only after I made four of them that a friend said I needed to pour the cold cream onto a spoon above the glass to get that effect. Sigh. The Irish coffee was very strong so I think that next time I'll reduce the content of Malones down a bit.Overall then this is an ok whisky blend that can be sipped straight but I think it is probably best suited to making mixed drinks.

Malones triple cask
Compared to the 12 year old redbreast - this was disappointing. Quite sharp.

Difficult to categorise...
When doing reviews, I like to compare the reviewed item against a well known similar product so that the subtle differences can be noted. So, looking at this one, i initially tasted against a Tamdhu (a personal favourite if mine), but the Tamdhu lacked the oak of this whiskey, but still had the strong sweetness as an aftertaste. So, I am now reviewing against a Glengoyne 12nyear old, which has a fresh oak body. The immediate differences is that this Malones has the oak, but it a much older, maybe musty (but in a good way) oak which harks to the smell of whisky maturing for years in old casks. If you've ever visited a distillery, you probably and immediately, will know the heavy scent of the Angel's share in the air.On tasting, the initial impression is sweetness of apples, before the oak hits a few seconds later as you swirl around your mouth. After swallowing, there is a warmth at the back of your mouth and under your tongue as the sweet notes return and linger.Overall, I think this is a really good whiskey, especially if you like unsmoked, but oaked whisky/whiskey.

Great taste
This whisky has a great taste. I enjoy it with coconut water ice blocks. You get coconut water and put in ice trays then use it on your whiskey (Please try if you haven’t already). It made a great combination.

A delicious whiskey with warmth & spice
At 42% this whiskey is stronger than UK standard but not particularly high alcohol for a premium whiskey however it tastes stronger with a spicy heat in the nose and mouth. It's very distinctively Irish but with a hint of the bourbon casks and sweetness from the sherry. It leaves a pleasant heat behind, this is definitely a good choice for a warming glass after taking the dog out on a cold day!

Lovely Irish whiskey, it doesn't burn your throat……
Wonderful smooth, slightly sweet whiskey, it has a subtle yet flavorsome taste, great on its own or with mixers, and you can tell it's a quality whisky, you can't beat this for the price in my opinion. It wasn't too heavy on stomach unlike some whiskeys I had in the past. I want to say it compares well with Scottish products. It is round and rich but not overpowering. It is not as smokey as Scottish whiskey and much smoother than American bourbon. I'm not a regular whiskey drinker but can definitely appreciate the promised smoothness and easiness on the throat.A must for the whiskey connoisseur or the original drinker!

Premium Blend
This is supplied in an attractive bottle inside standard Amazon packaging. This is a small batch blend distilled in Dublin and aged in Kentucky Bourbon, Red Ale, and Oloroso Sherry casks for 4 to 9 years, hence the triple cask label. This is a premium whiskey that seems to be aimed at the cocktail market although I would say it is almost too good that.It is an easy drinking whiskey with a slight sweetness of caramel as well as some fruity hints, probably from the sherry casks. I found it smooth enough to enjoy on its own with a drop of water or over ice. It is not cheap but does stand out as something different either with a mixer or on its own.
