Zircon StudSensor HD70 Stud Finder

So like others have mentioned in their review, this stud finder has it plusses and negatives, let's start with the plusses. First, it's a bit larger than my others, so it's easier to hold. The screen is bright and very simple to read, and when you pass over a stud, it lights up like a chrismas tree, so you will definitely know when your over one. It tells you when you are directly centered over the stud, or if you are only on the edge, and I love the little lightning icon that let's you know if you are near an electrical outlet. Now, with all that being said, there are a few things they may need to fine tune. The first is what other are also having trouble with, and thats being inconsistent. I will run this over the wall and will say there is a stud, but run it over the same spot and nothing. Once you find a stud, the light (arrow ) only stats on for a few seconds then flickers instead of keeping a solid beam. The other thing that I noticed is that if you are not eye level with the screen, you can't read it as the reading dissappears. If this was more consistent, I would have given this a 5 star all day long, but I still think that it needs more work.Update: so I have been using this a bit more lately around the house, and it seems to be working a bit better than when I first used it. Even though the batteries were new when it arrived, I replaced them with new ones, and it seemed to help. Maybe the unit was sitting around for a while before it shipped, but it seems that it's more precise that it was before I added new batteries. It's still not perfect, but better than it was.

Does a good job of finding studs and live electric wires. Even with "Deep Scan" it has trouble reading through plaster wall. Good product.

I’ve had two of these and while they work pretty well the battery indicator always shows that I need a new battery.

Aye this gadget is a must around your house or even apartment. For hanging anything its better to find the stud to be sure nothing you hang will fall down lol. I got this HD70 rather then the cheaper version available because it has more options like AC wires, it will show you the exact middle of the stud, the edge its pretty good. Other people reviews says they LCD screen is not very clear visible but for me its perfect, maybe they need to fully charged 9V battery. But it works as it supposed to.

I see a lot of negative reviews for this product but I think it's worked great. It has constantly located the center of the stud for me every time. It will also tell you if electrical cables are present and when your only on the edge for the beem. I am no contractor but this product has worked great for me and saved me from patch up holes when hanging stuff.
