Blue OxBX1120 Baseplate - Jeep Wrangler (1991-2006)

The product description misrepresents what Jeep it will fit. I have a 2008 and the site says the product will fir but it does not. Only fits up a 2006.

This was a simple install but required me to drill some holes in the frame.

Do not buy this baseplate for your Tj. Not easy to install. After you drill four holes, you have to insert the nuts through a hole in the frame and line them up to the bolt. They accomplish this by welding wire to the nuts that you can bend into place. On the drivers side: The three bolts used support the stirring box. The directions actually state to have a friend hold the stirring box while removing the bolts. Stupid, I removed the front bolt, and pivoted the baseplate to install one bolt to hold everything in alignment. Then remove the two other bolts. Value for the price is a joke. You can buy a complete heavy duty front bumper for about 450 bucks. Amazon has many models available. I wish I would have bought a HD bumper and Blue Ox bolt on brackets. Finally, sturdiness is good, but they must have had problems with DIY installs. Blue Ox states that they only sell the product for professional installation. They include two safety cables in case of product failure. In short, I should have bought a HD front bumper with a winch plate, and BO brackets.

I like the fact that I can flat tow my Jeep Wrangler

Finally installed this on my 2003 Jeep Rubicon and it fits and works great. The installation is a bit tricky, but overall not that bad. I would say, read through the instructions a few times before getting started as they aren't the best.

Works as advertised! Requires 4 holes drilled in frame. Sticks out a bit from front of Jeep. Would have given 5 stars otherwise.
