why is the shipping so high on this? Throw it in an envelope and regular mail it for the cost of a stamp!

It is under the Amazon system. IF the price is low, then the shipping is high or the price is high and the shipping is low. My job is only ship after receiving the complete payment. Everything follow the Amazon policy and controlled by them.

what is the size in inches?

It is a little over 4 1/2 inches by 3 inches. I like it because I can put two pictures side by side since I have 8 grandchildren and 3 children. Credit cards fit perfect, but the school pictures and other pictures I have tro trim all the white off around the edges to get them to fit.

If I bought 2 of these insers will i be charged double the shipping cost

I don't think they charge you double, it is around $7. You can order to see before confirm the payment. If you don't like the amount you can cancel before submit the purchase.
