AN AMAZING ALBUM
"Satin... In Black & White" contains 13 terrific tracks -- six new recordings of Baccara's all time favourites, six excellent brand new songs and a fine German medley. The tracks are a varied set of well crafted songs."Simply Forget", "Nights In Black Satin", "Girls Are One Half Of Heaven", "(I Don't Want) To Lose Lautrec", "Yes Sir, I Can Swing" and "The Mathematix Of Love" are strong melodic compositions.Mayte Mateos and Paloma Blanco are the right combination, their voices complement each other perfectly. This CD was composed, arranged and produced by Rolf Soja, lyrics by Frank Dostal -- the original team behind Baccara's biggest hits and most memorable songs. This is a truly fantastic album that put Baccara back on the map artistically.

Warning!
I'm a huge fan of Baccara's music from the 1970's. I also love New Baccara's italo disco singles from the 1980's. But I have to warn everyone about this new album!I'm so sick of re-recordings! What the girls need are brand new songs with a brand new sound, kind of like the wonderful 2004 album "Soy Tu Venus" that was recorded in Sweden. Sure, it included a couple of re-recordings, but mainly new tracks, and the sound was up-to-date.If you really want the few new tracks on this album, buy them on iTunes, that's what I did. There are a few good tracks on it. But DO NOT waste your money on yet another Baccara album filled with cheap re-recordings of their classic hits. It's just not worth it.

Total Rubbish
I've been a fan of Baccara for many years and while they may not be the best act out there, they remind me of my youth and don't we all yearn for a little nostalgia? Mayte Matee, the original black dress wearing Baccara member has now teamed up with Paloma Blanca and the resulting CD is terrible. Many of the tracks are written by the original Baccara composer, Rolf Soja and I had hoped for a return to the magic of 1977, but this was not to be.Mayte's accent is as strong as ever, but this makes her sound that little bit quirky and there's nothing wrong with that. As a contrast to this, Paloma sounds shrill and like a little girl - she doesn't complement Mayte like her previous partner, Cristina Sevilla did. And Mayte knows about partners, she's had about 10 of them since breaking from Maria Mendiolo in the early 80's.There is only one good song on this CD, "Simply forget", which is why this has one star. The rest are either very poor rehashes of their previous hits, which Mayte insists on rolling out on every new CD she releases, or just pathetic pop songs that should never have been recorded and sound dire..........."I don't want to lose Lautrec", written I'm sure, just to show how clever Rolf Soja is with his puns.Don't bother buying this. If you want a slice of Baccara pop, buy Mayte's previous effort, "Soy tu Venus", which has some great dance tunes on and a solo by Cristina called "Eyes of a stranger" which is just perfect.
