Good enough
Bought this because of the numerous praise for the item. Here's my take after 1 week of use.I have it mounted on the dash of my Honda Element. I use it with my iPhone 6 in a Tech21 case. The 3m mount requires a nearly flat surface or it will disengage. However on the proper surface, it seems very secure. The clamping mechanism is a bit ackward. I haven't figured out how to mount or dismount my phone with one hand. Since the clamping mechanism extends only at the top, trying to mount the phone with one hand puts upwards prying pressure on the mount. Trying to remove the phone with one hand means the spring loaded clamping mechanism snaps shuts with force which feels like it can damage the mechanism. This mount initially caused my phone to be more shaky than my previous mount while driving. Fortunately, i was able to eliminate most of the shake by adjusting the arm to the lowest position. Shaking is now dampened to a satisfactory degree. However if you require a higher arm position, shaking will be more pronounced and longer in duration after an impact.

very disappointed-UPDATED-Rev2
Based on the number of positive reviews I purchased this device with confidence -- but, unfortunately, found myself among the ranks of the 'disappointed'. When I first took the item from the box (even before removing the plastic protector), I tested it on my dining room table -- you couldn't budge this thing! My elation was short lived; I then tried it on the dashboard of my car and nothing that I could do would affix it to the dash - of either of my cars. After determining that the slight `texture' on the dash may be the culprit I then tried it on the windshield and it appeared very secure. But within 15 minutes it popped off. I re-secured it to the windshield in such a way that the phone would actually rest on the dashboard so as to not put so much `gravitational pull' on the device. It worked fine for the rest of the one-hour trip. However, the next morning the device had fallen off the windshield once again. When it is actually attached, it does make for a nice gadget - very convenient and it makes it much easier to see turn-by-turn directions when using the navigator on your phone, without having to look away from the road. I was hoping for something I could set-it up and forget it - but this is not the device for that. I'll keep it in the glove box until I need it and hope it stays on long enough for the duration of the trip.UPDATE: A representative from the company sent me a comment due to my low review (what a nice touch -- and a good marketing idea! I wish more companies would monitor their reviews). He recommended that I clean the device thoroughly and try again. I found that the operative word here is "thoroughly" - think along the lines of 'antiseptic'. :-) I tried cleaning the device and dashboard (the car is quite new) to what I thought was clean, and although I have to admit it did stay on longer than my first attempt -- it was clearly not a set-it and forget it -- especially if I parked in the hot sun; but it would last a day or so, so I was `more satisfied' than my original review. But, when it fell off again, I decided to try to do a better job on the cleaning of the device and dashboard - that seems to be the ticket. It has been on the dash for many days - I have put the phone in and removed it from the device on numerous occasions, and still it seems very secure. Other reviewers say that it only stays on for two weeks - 2 weeks in between cleanings would be fine. Ok - I'm very satisfied with this product! It works great; it's easy to use; and I like the design because it allows for both the charger and jack to be accessible and in use while my phone is in the device - and does not require playing games with your vent as other models appear to do. The device cradles the phone nicely, and with just a slight pull of one side it springs open for easy removal of your phone. Pretty cool design. Thanks for the tip, Josh!UPDATE2: Ok -- it now gets 5 stars. It's been in use for over 7 months and it is definately 'set-it and forget it'! I did remove it once (that took some effort) during this time to re-position the device and, again, I found it took about 2 attempts to clean it to where it was 'satisfied' -- but once it's happy, it's on for the long haul. Nothing will budge it. It does tend to leave some 'evidence' where it's been, so I do recommend that once it is thoroughly cleaned, you are absolutely certain of the location. Personally, it does not bother me, but for someone who is very fussy about their car, they may not particularly care for the circles that it leaves on the dash or windshield. I have not tried using a cleaner on the circles to remove them, so they may come off with a good detergent or soap and water. Again, a great product -- good value for the price. Would buy another if I needed it.

Best vehicle phone holder used so far
I have been using this holder for about 14 months and it still works great. I had the iphone 5 up to a month ago and now with the 6S it still grips the phone solid. I drive 165 KM's a day, 5 days a week to work on a combo of 80% country roads and 20% highway. The country roads can be quite rough in places and the phone never slides or pops out. I have a Civic and it's mounted to my dash just above the radio. Every 3 or 4 months, I remove the holder to clean the rubber contact. You just clean it under a tap with cold water and let it air dry.I have used at least a dozen phone holders over the years and this is the best so far. Even if this one only lasted a few years, I would buy it again without hesitation.

Works great - no issues
I like to use my iphone as a dash cam to record various events. I was sick of trying to drive and hold the phone to record at the same time. Not to mention that driving and recording is extremely dangerous. So I took to Amazon to find a nice quality phone mount that would hold the phone and not cover the camera or have anything in view of the camera. I wanted all of this for $20 or less. I looked at a lot of these things and had it narrowed down to the Koomus and one other - I went with the Koomus. Prime had it at my house in two days which I love. The product was smaller than I was expecting but it was nicely built. I put my phone in it right away to see how it would hold it and it holds on very tight. I have a iphone 5S with a magpul case and it fits snug with no issues at all. I went out to my car right away to test it out. Now I'm just using it on my windshield so I can't comment on how it would hold up when stuck to a dash. I can say though that the 3M sticky pad thats built onto the suction cup is *strong*. I had to pull very hard to get it off my windshield to re position it. Obviously the more you install/uninstall it it looses a little bit of the stickiness but it says you can just wash it off to make it as good as new again. With the 3M pad plus the suction there is NO WAY that its coming off my windshield. I've tried pulling on it and its solid. Of course its going to depend on your dash but I don't think there should be any issues getting it to stick. The mount works great for a dashcam, you do have to slide the phone in the mount a little so that the camera doesn't pick up the suction cup in the shot but the phone is still very secure and isn't going to fall out. This depends on your windshield and where you position the mount because I've tried it in my other cars and haven't had any issues with the camera picking up the suction cup when positioned in the middle of the mount. The arm and grabber that hold the phone are solid and stay where you position them, but if you need to rotate the phone from portrait to landscape it can easily be turned. Once you get the hang of it you can easily put the phone in/out with one hand. I've began to use it for more than just taking video. Its nice to have it there for music - no more looking down to find a song. You can easily see when a txt or call comes in and leaves you a free hand when using the phone as a GPS.As I said the main reason I bought this was to take video while driving just like a police dash cam. It takes good clean video and the mount stays solid and doesn't bounce around or wiggle. Looks just like police dash cam video when reviewed. So if you have a 5S and are looking for a mount for this purpose as I was, I can say 100% that this will work.Overall I'm very happy with this purchase for $14. I do wish the arm in between the suction cup and the phone grabber was longer but its not that big of a deal. I would recommend it without hesitation!

Highly recommended for those who experience -20 winter weather
The best one I ever used. strongly sticks to the windshield. I live in a place where there is -40 to 35 degree Celsius and this one just stays there. firm. Because of this stickiness, it is hard to move from one place to other. Used it for a year now and the cell phone holding unit feels the same as day one.
