Good tool... after a simple rework!
Exactly as stated by several people who bought it. I spent a few hours after disassembling it (watching carefully, for reassembly). I cleaned off all the factory oil film. I polished all the friction areas using 600 grit sandpaper. This removed some small roughness and burrs. After thoroughly cleaning the threads of the worm screws (Longitudinal Feed, Cross Feed and Leadscrew) I observed if there were any imperfections. I don't know if I was lucky, the CV413 unit I received came with very well-defined threads. After all the above process, I lubricated the rails, bearings, worm screws, and even the handles, all with a layer of WD-40 Specialist White Lithium Grease Spray. I reassembled the vise, readjusted the screws that define the longitudinal and transverse displacement pressure and the result was excellent and surprising, showing that the WEN is a good quality tool, needing only a little rework after leaving the box. Smooth movements without play, except in the crank handles when reversing the direction of movement. Yes, that was the only downside... It is a small deficiency mentioned by others, however, it does not compromise the tool in my humble opinion. Anyway, great cost-benefit! With this procedure, I would recommend its purchase without any hesitation.

Not bad, after some lube
I have not used this vise on my drill press yet however upon delivery I closely inspected the unit due to other reviews having complaints. The vise thread for the actual clamp was very hard to operate as well as the lower axis adjustment threaded rod but the upper axis adjustment operated quite smooth so I took each threaded rod out and cleaned them from black back to raw silver steel then added a nice clean layer of white lithium greese then reassembled the unit and it now seems like a solid unit with smooth operation. Some of the coating they used on the unit was flaking and had got into areas where metal rubs metal and needed to be removed but Ithink its the best option for your buck even with some preliminary cleaning to do.

beware that it should be used on large, floor drill presses, not a bench drill press
I wasn’t expecting anything incredible because of the reviews. It’s super heavy, and I spent some time cleaning it up. One axis was completely frozen but oiling it up, it started moving. I spent some time wiping the dirty oil from the working groves, and it started freeing everything up. It’s actually a very nicely manufactured for the price, and I would recommend this for hobby/garage use.

Excellent at its price point!
Perhaps I just got lucky with this purchase, but I am very pleased with the overall quality of the product. Minor hand work was required: cleaning with solvent, sharp way edges filed smooth. All parts fit together without a problem. Acme screws turn smoothly. I gave it 5 stars for accuracy relative to the price point. It is not a $800.00 vise with precision ground ways; they are machined ways and accurate for what they are. I'm going to mount to my wood lathe and use as a feed/cross-feed to turn a few pieces of resin to fit a collet chuck. This vise should work fine for this limited application.

Inferior cast iron material: broke
Originally, I thought this was a good vice for the price. That was before part of the vice broke into 3 pieces for no apparent reason. It was the upper level, the Vice level, not the level underneath the Vice that detaches. Specifically, it is area on the Vice that surrounds its guide rail (roughly 1/2” in diameter) and would, if it wasn’t broke, prevent the Vice from wobbling and closing on one side but not on the other side. The area that broke used to hold the Vice to that 1/2” guide rail. If it was only 1 piece that broke off, it might easier to attempt an repair. But it is not easy. Also, the 6 edges of these broken cast iron pieces that now have to join back together are as jagged and gravely as rock, and are therefore extremely difficult if not impossible to clean free of oils and dirt. I tried to silver solder these parts back together. But that did not work. I’m really disappointed with this product. Nothing brought this on, either. I wasn’t hammering on the vice. The Vice was mounted to my drill press table. I don’t have money to replace it either. This makes me even more sad.

Works well enough, but a bit coarse
Well built, but coarse in finish. However, the jaw faces are machined smooth and close square. To get anything resembling smooth travel on the cross function, you will need to disassemble the vice, clean it, and apply some good quality lubricant. Bicycle chain grease worked for me.

A solid vice!
I've owned this vice before. Sold my old one but got this one and it's a very nice vice for the money. Clamps down well on the table of the drill press and the run out (space between the worm screw teeth) isn't anything for me to worry about. A solid vice.

Junk.
Excessive back lash. Unable to use for purchased purpose, 1/14 scale RC fabrication. Would have returned it, if I would have used it before the return by date.

Realistic expectations
The vice is solid and put to use with my drill press. I can clamp the vice in-place and have a rigid base to drill into. I'm also realistic about the vice positioning precision. The X-Y movement has a lot of movement slackness, especially the bottom "X" axis movement. This movement slackness has no impact on the vice grip, but maybe off putting for those that want to turn the dials and expect no backlash.

Solid cross vice good value for money
Very Happy with slide vice, small bit of backlash from bottom slide due to threaded guide not fixed but a floating pin other then that its great value for money.
