I purchased this GENMAX generator in October 2025, and it has worked out really well for what I bought it for. One of the biggest things I like is the price. For the amount of power and the features you get, I think it’s a really good value. It’s also very easy to use. Starting it is simple, and I was honestly surprised by how easy it is to pull start. The noise level has probably impressed me the most. I expected a portable generator to be noticeably louder, but this one is actually very quiet. That makes a big difference for how I use it, especially on hunting trips where I don’t want something running that sounds like a lawn mower sitting beside camp. It’s also light enough that moving it around isn’t a hassle. I wouldn’t call any generator weightless, but this one is very portable and easy to load, unload, and move where I need it. Routine maintenance is straightforward too. Basic things like checking and changing the oil are easy to get to, which I appreciate because I don’t want maintenance to turn into a project every time. Fuel efficiency has been good, and it puts out plenty of power for my needs. I mainly use it on hunting trips to recharge batteries and keep my portable power station charged. The available outlets and ports give me plenty of options for plugging things in without needing a bunch of extra adapters or equipment. I really don’t have any complaints about it so far. It’s quiet, easy to start, portable, fuel efficient, easy to maintain, and has enough power for what I need. For someone looking for a small portable generator for camping, hunting, backup charging, or similar use, I’ve been very happy with it.

75 hrs in and this thing has been a life saver. I bought it as a just in case for a trip we were taking our camper on to run the A/C and charge the batteries because we didnt know if there would be a power hook-up, since our campers A/C unit only uses ~500 watts the GM1200i was the perfect size. The morning that the generator was set to arrive a plane took out some power lines leaving us without power and to make things better it was the hottest day of the year. The generator showed up about 1PM and I spent the next couple hours doing a break in of it. 1hr zero load, oil change, 1 hr 25-50% load, oil change, and then 1 hour 50-75% load and then an oil change. That was perfect timing as it was getting to the hottest part of the day when we could plug in the camper and use the camper AC and watch some TV to cool down and this generator did perfect. We did have it at about 900w for about 30 min while the camper batteries recharged and we ran the AC and the TV but once the batteries charged we went back down to about 550w and it ran all night until ~4 am when the power was restored. We did also end up needing it on our trip and we ran it at night and for an hour or so and during the day when we had to plug in laptops and such to do a little work and this generator handled it like a champ. It is very quite as we are unable to hear it in the camper even when it is just out side of the door, we even had someone stop by and comment one of the times we were running it during the day and about how quite it was even under 50-60% load. This generator is also really good on gas for the entire week we were out we only used right about 4gal of gas ( 4 of the 8 nights we just used to charge the batteries to run the inverter since it cooled off and we didnt need the AC at night). When we got there we had about 14hrs on it and we left with 74 hrs so that is about 15hrs on a gallon of gas at 25-60% load. The only con I have about this generator is that the plastic access panel for the air filter is very loose and will fall off while running, I put tape over the clips to hold them it just it was be nice if the clips were spread just a little bigger so they would catch better. TDLR: Very quite, does it job very well and it very fuel efficient. I do recommend doing some kind of break in process on it as the first 4 oil changes did have a good amount of glitter in the oil but by the 4th oil change it looked normal. I personally did oil changes every hour for the first 3 hours and then about every 25 hours after that. If you need a small generator to run lighter loads I don't think you can go wrong with this one.

I never used the original spark plug, I put in a Champion. I looked for the same size NGK, but no one local had it. I broke the engine in with a 5 hr varying load run. 0%-45%. I use a killawatt meter and an adjustable heat gun to determine the load. 30 min run on each load. Every hour changed the oil. Each oil change, it got a little lighter in color. After the break in, I drained all of the gas from the carb with the bowl screw and changed the oil again. I just used it to help a customer recharge their Ecoflo large solar generator. I don't use the ECO mode on the engine when I know I have to draw a lot of power from it. This generator ran 2.5 hrs at 1658 watts. The Ecoflo quit taking the electric initially, the input watts stopped, but the 2nd time it tried, it was fine. Worked great, much quieter than my open frame generator, but it isn't 'whisper mode'. I changed the oil again after that job due to how hard the engine worked and still new. 12 oz of 10W-30 full synthetic. Break in with conventional oil. Always store with NO gasoline in the tank or in the carburetor and it will start every time. Forget about the fuel stabilizer gimmicks. Great Ad campaign snake oil. I have 7 gasoline generators and store all the exact same way with no issues. Fresh oil, no gas in the carb/tank. I also remove the spark arrestor first thing to remove a sure problem of carbon clogging the spark arrestor. I don't go to National Parks and I've also never seen sparks/fire shoot out of my small engines. I do know a clog in the exhaust pipe isn't a good thing. I will attach a pic of 24 hr run time and compare a new spark arrestor with a clogged one on 24 hours of gasoline run time.

I'm quite happy with this thing especially for its price I've used it twice heavily. The first use was just Running a 850 W Golf cart battery charger For about 6hrs It was surprisingly fuel-efficient And ran perfectly. The second job Was running a small electric snow blower 1800 W 15 amps Exactly the running power this thing is supposed to put out. While it did run the snow blower It was struggling I triggered the overload shut off twice. Granted I was pushing the limits of the snow blower as well doing a massive job in deep heavy snow. The over load warning light blinked a lot but it pushed hard for 2 straight hours. I will also be useing this for Electric weed whackers, chainsaws, and large flood lights. I don't think it will have a problem with any of these however my only real concern now is how long will it last. "Update did not last" My only complaints Is if you pull the string to far forward the friction will actually melt the plastic on the side slightly not a big issue. "Update oil Sensor brick the whole thing" Update 1 1/2 months later. The generator no longer starts it continually tells me low oil regardless of the amount of oil. I am now removing stars. There is no scenario where I should be having to tear this thing apart to fix something as simple as an oil sensor Inside of 40 days This has caused big problems with my home. The directions do not even tell me exactly where the sensor is And the entire thing is encased in 2 layers of plastic so I can't get to anything without tearing apart everything. Nor are there any tutorials and simply unplugging the sensor Did not work either. Also the Provided schematic Has the wrong color codes on the wires. I now have a $300 brick. No customer support Can't find parts. Just s*** out of luck.....Never again

After a long search and comparison, I decided on the Genmax 2000i, which I wanted to take with me to Mexico. The generator was in Laredo for another week, I picked it up at the bodega, opened the box and checked the generator from the outside, everything was fine, like new, only the adhesive tape on the Kortan was transparent. When I was in Mexico, I read the instructions, filled up the oil, filled up with petrol and the power generator ran on the third pull and was very quiet. I thought that was a good thing. Now the assessment: 1: The specified amount of oil did not fit, it should be 1/10 gallon, 0.378 liters, it was too much. The level on the dipstick was exceeded. 2: the big disappointment. The generator does not have an hour meter, so I wanted to install an hour meter, which is very easy to install. I pulled the spark plug cap and saw a cracked spark plug, not good!! In various Amazon reviews from various generators I had seen spark plug caps or spark plugs broken, now I had the same thing. 3 years ago I had a Westinghouse igen 2200i from Amazon that had a broken spark plug cap, I bought a cap from Honda which was better and worked fine. But here the broken spark plug was a bigger problem, picture 2 and 3a 3: the supplied spark plug wrench only worked for a 1/4 turn, then it got stuck. The included spark plug wrench only went on because the spark plug was bent. After changing the spark plug, the original socket wrench can be put on, but it jams. My assumption, someone had this generator and tried to unscrew the spark plug, bent it and sent the device back. That's why I couldn't fill in 0.378 liters of oil because there was residual oil in it. 4: I was only able to turn the spark plug wrench a 1/4 turn then it stuck to the housing, the spark plug was crooked and porcelain stuck the wrench to the spark plug. I had a hard time getting the spark plug out. 5: Porcelain parts were on the outside of the cylinder head thread, picture 4 6: there was a chip in the spark plug hole thread picture 5, I was able to remove it with tweezers. 7: mmh, did some parts fall through the spark plug thread into the cylinder? I checked with an endoscope and thankfully didn't find any parts pic 6 but a thread burr on the piston pic 6, using a small 7mm diameter hose on a car vacuum cleaner I went into the spark plug thread and the first time I was able to remove the instep pic 7 8: it was a lot of work to create space for the work picture 8 9: why all this? Look at the pictures 9, 10, 11, and 12, the spark plug can hardly be changed with the long original tool. Even with a short spark plug tool with a 1/4" drive, it is almost impossible to change the plug. A flexible 1/4" or 3/8" socket wrench must be used. The spark plug wrench does not line up with the spark plug. Summary: It took me 4 hours to fix what someone broke and covered up. The top thread is slightly damaged, but it should still work. After taking the whole case apart I can say the plastic parts, the finish everything I saw seems to be of good quality and finish. When assembling it, I noticed that everything was a perfect fit. The generator has a very low running noise, very quiet in Eco mode. I was amazed that even in Eco mode the generator runs without any problems with a 1400 watt electric oven. Would I buy the generator again? Yes, but the supplier has to change the spark core tool immediately, or even better, install an engine that has a spark plug that is slightly slanted to the side, then there will be no problems even with a standard tool. I hope the seller, wholesaler and manufacturer respond to this comment. PS: Years before that I worked as a development engineer for electromechanical devices.

*UPDATED 6 Months Later* I am so pleased with this little generator. Since my original review of using this generator for running compressor and power tools, I finally had the opportunity to run it for the purpose I bought it for; running a small air conditioner at my no-power hunting camp. The generator performed exactly as expected, and was able to run the small 5,000 BTU air conditioner as well as some lights and providing me an AC outlet in my hunt camp camper for my phone charger for 6+ hours in 90 degree temperatures on the one gallon of gas. The generator is light enough for me to transport wherever I need it, so I have used it to run power tools on other "in the woods" projects to run my saw and nailer, electric landscaping tools and other plug-in equipment at my hunting stands. My latest experiment involved trying to run the electric systems on my 17" popup camper on this generator. With the 13,500 BTU rooftop air conditioner, as well as the Absorption-type fridge, and the main lights (2x LED banks) the generator was able to run everything. Once the AC ran through its start up cycle (large, temporary draw) and went to steady draw of about 1300 watts to run, I was able to run everything in eco mode, and did not overload the generator. I am incredibly pleased with the output of this generator and the small fuel consumption, small footprint, and relatively quiet operation. I would definitely purchase this again if I had need to replace this unit, or if I had increased power consumption. *ORIGINAL REVIEW* I purchased this generator on a Lightning Deal. It was a little bigger than what I wanted. I needed a small generator to run a 5000 BTU window AC on a camper I use at hunt camp. I was looking at the smaller Genmax generator (1200) but saw this one at basically the same price. This last weekend I had the opportunity to put it through its paces helping a friend build a cabin on a remote property he has. This generator was able to run a compressor (to run a framing nailer) as well as a chop saw for cutting dimensional lumber for framing, and a circular saw for cutting zip board. We even had an extra outlet we used to charge power tool batteries. The generator would struggle just a little bit if the air compressor and the chop saw ran at the same time, but it would catch up quickly and push on through. We ran the generator continuously for 6 hours on the single tank of gas. While its primary purpose will be to run the AC unit, I am now confident that I will be able to also run lights and perhaps even some appliances at the hunt camp trailer. The generator was quiet enough to be able to have a conversation standing next to it without really raising your voice. In fact, it was quieter than either the air compressor or the chop saw when they were running. All in all, I am very happy with its performance over the weekend, and I'm sure it will be more than adequate for what it was originally purchased for.

This spring I picked up the GENMAX for home backup, mostly so the kids and I could keep a few basics running when the power drops. It’s light enough for me to move from the garage without making it a whole project. During a brief outage, I ran our router and a lamp, and it handled that without fuss. The engine sounds quieter than the older generator my brother owns, though I still hear it from the patio, so “ultra-quiet” feels generous. Eco mode is handy for lighter use. I do wish the controls felt a little clearer at a glance, especially when I’m setting it up after dark. For occasional backup and camping, it fits what I need.

I bought this generator 2 years ago. I selected it as its an inverter generator with nearly 8000 continuous running watts and a 50 amp plug (don’t buy any generator that does not have this plug type). I wanted a generator that would run my whole house including one 3 ton air conditioner. 2 years later it was put to the test twice in 45 days. A couple of hints and tips on setting this generator up for whole home use. I have a large home and I have a device that tracks my average and max electricity watts used. The device is a Emporia Home Energy Monitor Smart Home Energy Monitor. With my pool equipment turned off my home uses ~6000k avg with one 3 ton air conditioner on. So the continuous watts on this generator has my use case covered (why spend $20k on generac?). To hook this up to my home I did the following and you can look up how to complete each step on youtube. 1. I installed a new 50 amp breaker in my main panel 2. I ran a heavy gauge wire from that new breaker to 50 Amp Generator Power Inlet Box on the outside of my house Amazon.com: Rophor 50 Amp Generator Power Inlet Box, NEMA SS2-50P for 3 Prong Generator Cord, 125/250 Volt, 12500 Watts, Weatherproof, Outdoor Use, ETL Listed : Patio, Lawn & Garden 3. I installed an interlock kit (a bunch of videos on youtube will explain what an interlock kit is and its use. Basically its for safety and easy to install) 4. On my AC that I plan to use during a power outages I installed a Micro – Air Easystart (again search youtube and learn why you need this. But without it your generator will likely not be able to turn on any large AC due to something called the “initial inrush” of electricity when an AC starts up.) 5. Finally, I bought a 50 Amp NEMA 14-50p Generator Cord Basically this DIY setup allows me to plug my generator directly into the new 50 amp breaker in my main panel and power everything in my break box (again I turn off my pool pumps and one run one AC when using the generator but everything else is on) In May 2024 my house power went out for 109 hours straight due to a storm. I ran this generator for all 109 hours continuously. No breaks and I did not shut it down once even when refilling it. This unit holds approximately 7 gallons of gas which for me lasted 10 hrs before refilling. My average watts used was ~6000 continuous so it was under heavy load the whole time. It never had any issues at all. My biggest issue was toting 5 gallon gas cans around (I have 7 five gallon cans). I changed the oil and washed the air filter after using it. In July 2024, luck would have it a hurricane hit, and I lost power for 90 straight hours. I turned it on during the end of hurricane and ran it for 90 hours straight with the AC on the whole time. Not one hiccup. It’s a beast and if you live in hurricane territory in the US and don’t want to pay Generac an amount equal to a new small car then I recommend this.
