Good Product! 👍
Hello everybody, I bought this product for my furniture factory in Colombia S.A., it work's very good and the results of the joints are very accurate, personally I recommend this product to anyone that is interested in buying it, also the delivery time was short.

Don't know what all the complaints are about
Ok, so used this for the first time today, doweling together cabinet door frames. Decided to give it a try after reading tons of not so great reviews, and videos; seems there are alot of Festool guys out there. For a difference of $800 I'm happy to say I like it. The stiff spring isn't a issue (maybe they corrected that?) The 'fat' alignment marks aren't great but are work able. The fence not 90 degrees? mine is... I think this is one of those tools where you need to get familiar with in order to get good results. Watch the videos, learn what to look for and correct and get to joining wood! Hope this review helps, as I'm a true believer in reading these. The reason for four instead of five stars is the alingment marks. Not a deal breaker, but could have been much crisper from the factory....

A spectacular fail from a company that should know a lot better
This is a great idea rather poorly executed. Triton tends to be known for quality, but the engineering on this really leaves a lot to be desired. It should make drilling dowel holes way easier than using the kind of jig I've been using. I like dowels better than biscuits because I feel they give me more precision. I'd love to have a Domino, but have a hard time justifying dropping a paycheck on a joiner. First, what it's supposed to do: Make it easy to bore holes for 5/16 dowels for joinery in a fashion similar to a plate or biscuit joiner or Domino. Set up much like a plate joiner, it, in theory, should work much like my current DeWalt. What's wrong with it? In fact, a whole lot. First, the springs that control the travel of the boring bits is insanely stiff, and, unlike my biscuit joiner, you pretty much have to clamp the boards or have a good solid backstop to get the full depth of cut. This is a big problem because it connects directly to two other problems. The first of those is the really flimsy angle plate lock. Because you have to put so much pressure on the device to bore the holes, the tiny screw that holds the angle plate at your setting just isn't substantial enough to keep the angle plate from moving under any pressure. The other connected problem is that the rack and pinion adjustment knob is almost identical to the angle plate knob, and directly opposite it. So, in trying to adjust your angle, you might adjust the height of the cut on the board inadvertantly. The cut depth stop behind the front plate isn't bad, but you'd have thought that, since Triton makes a biscuit joiner, they'd have this stuff down by now. Finally, and the real killer, is that the idiotic design of the collets for the boring drills. Each bit has a flat side, and one of the first things you do is loosen the little hex nuts that hold the bits in place, make sure the bits are seated properly and that the flat side is up, then tighten the little hex nuts. At the very least, Triton should have had the engineering chops to have a flat side in the collets so that you don't have to fiddle with getting the bits set up right. But the engineering here is bewildering and shoddy. The dust collection port is really next to impossible to use given that it's on the bottom of the device, right beneath the cutters with a very shallow hookup. After cutting a few holes, one of my hex nuts jiggled loose and disappeared. After sweeping my shop with a magnet, I still couldn't find it, so I had to resort to my tried and true, but more time-consuming, self-centering dowel jig to finish up my work. Last, but certainly not least, I reached out to Triton via their web site to see if I could get a replacement for the little nut. Three days later and still no response. I'd have given it two stars for the good parts, but the failure of their customer service just ices the stupid-cake. If I hadn't tossed the packaging when I got it, I would have returned it. What a waste of a great idea.

Improved, but still not worth buying
After a few more recent reviews suggested that Triton had fixed many of the underlying problems with this unit I decided to roll the dice in order one. It is clearly improved from previous generations. The indents on the face now are flush, the springs are only a little bit stiff, and I have measured the angles on the top fence to be quite accurate. BUT - The drill bits are still not square with the top fence, and it's very clear why. For whatever reason Triton has opted to not make any adjustability in the alignment of the bits and the top fence which must be absolutely parallel to one another. Others have observed this with previous units and that issue persists with this more recent unit. While this issue doesn't make the unit unusable it does mean that every set of holes you drill must match exactly the set that you put opposing it. Not just in depth and location, but how the tool is aligned when those holes are cut. Because they will not be perfectly straight. One hole is always going to be slightly below the other one. That misalignment has to match otherwise it will pull your whole piece out of alignment. I thought it was worth the gamble based upon more recent reviews but I was wrong. I would not recommend this unit.

Triton TDJ600 Duo Dowelling Jointer
Triton TDJ600 Duo Dowelling Jointer price ~$200, the unit that I got is useless. at photo #1 you can see that the holes are not parallel (one is 1.06 mm higher than the other). in the second photo the drills are not parallel to the base - measuring 1.1mm height difference. on photos 3 and 4, the plate at flat position, not flat and placing a triangle square, you can see the light (wan not placed on the rubber pads). on photos 5,6 in 90 degrees, it hoes not open to 90 degrees, but about 87, and you can not open it more to reach 90 degrees, and drilling will be done in an angle. there are 4 screws at the front of the tool, but you can not align the tool to compensate for the drills not at the same height. E-mail Triton they recommended to return the tool (as defective), a replacement is coming soon I dough if it will be better. A tool like this should not pass factory quality control. I received a second unit as replacement, the drills are not parallel, and the fence move slightly up when you tighten, the screw. when all the screws in lock position, holding the fence you can move it up and down ~.5mm in reference to the drills. it means that you can never get an accurate holes, and it depend on the force, and the width on the wood (if the wood width is narrow, there is less grip on the fence). The second unit goes back, this tool has a design problem. Calling and e-mail Triton, there is no answer for the last 2 days.

Useful tool
I was able to quickly align and put together a project (a table) with this tool. For the price point, it is alright. I was able to use this tool for 18 hours, before it was stolen (along with all my other tools). So I may have a lack of long term use, that might change my view of it.
