Q: Can i use these in my house with a plug in?

You have to wire an LED driver or a 12v power supply to be able to use them in the house.

Q: Can I connect one light to another light

I have 3 circuits with a number of fixtures on each circuit from each area switch/breaker there are wall switches an the switches on each fixture. All is good. These are 12v low amp lights just be sure you don’t exceed the amps for a circuit and all is good.

Q: What is the total height of the item if using the metal brackets?

I didn't use the metal brackets. But if I remember right they added a quarter inch to the thickness of the light
