Makes adding weight to a car easy!
These are awesome!Easy to install!Lots of weight in a small package; allows you trim a lot of wood for an aerodynamic shape and yet add plenty of weight for converting potential to kinetic energy in a hurry!

Works great!
Works great and manufactured well. Great alternative to standard lead weights as you get much more weight per volume and require less space on your derby cars. Also slides well into holes drilled out. Highly recommended for the additional cost.

No Melting Required
These weights give you much more flexibility compared to the traditional ways of adding weight to your car.Since the weights are so small and dense, you can add them anywhere on your car. That means you can decide how the weight is distributed, to make your car front-heavy, for instance. We made a standard "car-shaped" derby car, and we did not use all of the weights. You probably could on a low-profile car. To fine tune, we used Pinewood Derby Weights - Tungsten Spheres to get it to max weight.I thought the price was a little high to spend on a derby car, but consider that you can pop these weights out and use them again next year.

Pricy but effective
I used these weights in my "Outlaw" class pinewood derby car. They fit snugly in a 3/8 inch hole and allowed me to place the weight where I wanted it without effecting the design of the car too much. I was able to make a car that looked great and ran very well. I did not win, but I was within a 10th of a second of the best time of all the cars ran. My car was otherwise stock (right at 5oz), and I didn't do a very good job of prepping my wheels/axles (forgot to get graphite and ran out of time). They only lose a star because they are expensive, and I did have to add additional weight to make fine tuning adjustments. You will definitely want your car to be just under 5oz with these weights so you can add small washers or something to bring it up to full weight.

Easiest way to add weight exactly where you want it
The small size and the fact that they stay in tightly in a 3/8 inch hole makes these really nice. I was able to place them right behind the rear axle in the car which helped my son easily win first place in his race. I put the car in a vise and clamped on a big gator tool v-drill guide to make the holes as exact as I could get them. I also used collar drilling stops so that the holes would not go too deep. When inserted the weights stayed in nicely all on their own.

Great for Cub Scout Pinewood Derby
These are excellent Pinewood Derby weights if you can drill. I can't but have friends that can thank God and they worked perfectly. What I do is... put a couple of these in toward the back of the car. But DON'T overdo it or they're stuck in there and you can be disqualified. I leave a little extra room for weight and then add a few pennies that I hot glue to the bottom of the car at the last minute. Just a little tip from an experienced Pinewood Derby Mom. :)

I'll but these again next year
"My Son" drilled a hole dead center in the back end of his Pinewood Derby Car and put three of these in. "My Son" used a little super glue and tungsten putty to make sure they were secure and snug. The car this year was weighted much better than last year. "My Son" also filed and sanded the axels using a dremel tool and sanded the wheels (also using a dremel tool). HIs pinewood derby usually has about 50 cars. Last year, his car was one of the slowest. This year he was 4th of 50-ish, and first place out of 18 Bears. The cars ahead of him belonged to one family that gets way too serious about pinewood derby (the dad makes his own car for fun each year...they have special tools and use auto paint and clear coats...they cars look and run amazing...but everyone knows they won't be beat because of the time and money they spend).
