Q: Do you need the original daisy wheel for this to work on the BGE?

Yes. Smobot uses the base portion of the daisy wheel.

Q: Will this work on Vision kamado Grill ?

It will work with an adapter sold on the SMOBOT website.

Q: Will this work for a Pit Boss ceramic grill?

Yes. I helped the developers make an adapterfor the pit boss. It works great! Be sure to order the pit boss adapter with your Smobot.

Q: can the top vent be operated manually on bge such as for short cooks where controller is not needed, or is it necessary to reinstall bge vent? Thanks

Yes. We have a BGE. My husband only uses the robot feature when he’s doing long smokes. For grilling, he does it manually. We love the SmoBot!
