Good but buy new
Avoid the renewed ones as many seem to have defects such as not being able to attach the bottle to the unit. I prefer this over soda stream for looks and functionality. Plus if you still have the screw in gas bottles I believe this is your only option now. The bayonet style bottle attachment is definitely an upgrade over soda streams screw in bottles. Also as others have noted, be careful not to lose the silicone washer in the cap. One time it came off with the bottle which was then inserted into the machine to recharge only to get jammed in the neck around the white gas nozzle and was very difficult to get out. I now suspect most of the returns and complaints about bottles not being able to be attached for filling are due to this issue. Other than that, it’s great.

Great deal with some caveats to consider
I replaced a Soda Stream Terra that failed and chose this for the main reason that I wanted to return to a screw type carbonation cylinder (not the quick-connect) AND I wanted something simple. These are a steal right now, likely because Philips has discontinued the product. This is fine by me, because it takes the Soda Stream and other brand canisters, so I hope to get a few years use from this. Note that other water bottles are NOT compatible, so order an extra 1 or 2 if you can. Even so, it's a sturdy bottle and I pour the freshly carbonated water into my smaller Soda Stream bottles right away to extend use. Operation is easy - just push the canister in firmly and give it a few good twists - you do hear a click and it should feel firm. Twist in the water bottle filled to the line with cold water, and push firmly for 2-3 seconds, wait, hear puff sound, repeat 2-3x. The way home carbonation machines are designed, pushing too long will just waste gas and I've found this creates a good level of fizz for me. It's a great machine for the price, just buy knowing that product support may be minimal because this was discontinued.

Crotchety old user says this is fine
So I had basically the first gen SodaStream, toxic plastics and all, and then it finally broke, so I am comparing this unit to an obsolete one. This machine is sexy and clean and looks great. It doesn’t quite fit easily under my cabinets, and it goes through CO2 canisters much more quickly than my OG SodaStream, but it is super cute and easy to use and does the job. It uses standard CO2 canisters that can be replaced through third parties and replaces quite easily

Doesn't carbonate well, bottle overflows easily, messy, terrible design decisions
Sodastream has some kind of bearing on the end of the carbonation spout, this product does not have a bearing or valve to prevent backflow --It is just a straw (pictured at the bottom). This allows for the machine under certain conditions to act as a siphon and suck water from the bottle back into the machine which explains how it ends up pooling into the base and leaking all over the counter. The plus: 1. Standard Sodastream bottles and 60L CO2 tanks fit. 2. it looks cute. That is it. This machine is terrible at carbonation. The end product was still rather flat and devoid of bubbles. Waste of time and money. During correct operation, the water easily overflows and backfeeds through the C02 spout and drips out of the bottom of the machine all over the counter (bottle on correctly, fill line correct, etc.) Unlike a SodaStream there is no way to release pressure from the bottle before unscrewing. You just have to hope that it depressurizes before you try -- which is a waiting game. The channel that the 60L carbonation bottle fits into is very narrow, you have to pick up the whole machine and hold it upside down or sideways while trying to insert the bottle. It is a tight squeeze and the design doesn't give you visible access to the socket where the C02 bottle screws into. If there is ever an issue, you will not be able to inspect or troubleshoot the connection of the C02 tank as it is completely hidden from view. Screwing the bottle on is difficult, it does not tilt toward you. You have to hold the bottle upright, try to push it up into the receptacle and turn the bottle to screw it in at the same time. Pushing upward and turning hand-over-hand clockwise is more difficult than it sounds. I am very adept but found this to be clunky and not easy to do. It was a hindrance to be honest. Instead of misty spray type carbonation stream I am used to, this machine injects huge air bubbles that shoot straight into the bottle, which makes it easy to overflow and doesn't give great carbonation. I compared this machine side by side performance-wise with a Soda Stream Jet Fountain, which is an entry level machine that is no longer in production. This Phillips brand maker was a huge disappointment in all areas. I do not recommend this, especially if your only experience is with the SodaStream. You might hate it as much I do.

Fair prices option
Item works very well. Reasonably prices alternative to the competition while being able to use the competition’s materials when they are less costly

Philips sparkling water make working well
It is working well so far, yet different than the previous one I had which was the same model. At first I didn't feel it was really carbonating much, as it was working different than the previous one I had., but it does. The material works, I don't care for plastics but it is just the housing so it does not affect the water that I have noticed. It is a good size and doesn't take up a ton of counter space and easy to wipe down and clean. I enjoy being able to make my own soda water rather than buying lots of plastic bottles and hope this is durable.

Proprietary bottle makes it a deal breaker
Shipped very fast and its boxed nicely. Super simple to assemble and start using - very few parts...All these things I loved...Comes with a nice large attractive bottle - albeit plastic - which is also nice... The bottle locks in and you get a nice amount of fizz and there is a secure cap etc... I did not experience any of the issues others had with the water spraying everywhere or the bottle clicking off - although I've only had it about a week. Again so far so good. The Bad: 1. And for me this is a big one - they've switched to a proprietary bottle/top design so you can not use it with any other bottles etc...This would be fine if Philips made all kinds of different (stainless steel) options that you can purchase but they dont. So for me just this is kind of a deal breaker because I'd hate to be locked into a system where the system gets discontinued and there are very few other options for using the unit 2. Smaller deal - but does not come with a Co2 canister and a second bottle. This is not as huge a deal for me because at this price I'm not expecting frills.

Perfect replacement to make use of our full screw in CO2 bottles.
We had a competitor model that broke and we were left with 3 full screw in CO2 bottles. This was the perfect replacement unit to make use of our full bottles and we will continue to get the screw in bottles in the future. In my opinion it works as well as the old one that we had. Glad that I found this model!

overpriced for what it is but does the job
looks pretty but very plasticy and frankly overpriced for what it is - the gas button feels cheap and gets stuck occasionally

NOT FOR AUSTRALIAN CUSTOMER
This item should NOT be sold in Australia. We tried Phillips and Sodastream CO2 cannister and both are the wrong thread so do not work.. We sent it back but won't receive refund for at least 30 days. Nowhere online does it state the cannister and unit may be incompatible. I called Phillips and they confirmed we cannot use this Unit in Australia as no cannister will fit. Shame on Amazon for selling unusable products. Yes Phillips have raised this with Amazon multiple times but Amazon continue selling.

Gereklimi acaba diye düşünerek aldım
Süper bir cihaz.Yazları soğuk lezzetli içecekler hazırlamak için ideal tavsiye ederim.Türkiye için tüp bulması problem ürün içinden tüp çıkmıyor.Ayrı tüp ve dolum aparatı alıp sanayi gaz dolum istasyonlarında dolum yaptırdım
