Q: I assume the "left shot" is a left handed stick?

I too would like to know the answer to this. I bought a right sided stick but I got one that I would shoot with my left hand. Confused.

Q: How do I know which hand I shoot with?

When you grip the stick, getting ready to shoot - which way are you most comfortable? Do you have your left hand low on the stick and the right hand up by the end (knob)? If so, you are a left-hand shot. If right hand lower and left hand up by the knob, you are a right-hand shot. Today's stick blades are shaped so that when you go to shoot (a forehand shot), the puck-side of the blade will be slightly sloped upwards, and slightly curved to make a bit of a cup - both features designed to shoot harder and with more control.

Q: Will the blade give easily or not?

No, the blade will remain stiff and ungiving. When you shoot a shot hard, the shaft will bend a little bit, but not the blade.

A right-handed stick is one where your right hand is farther down the shaft than your left. A left-handed stick is one where your left hand is farther down the shaft. What way you shoot in hockey is not correlated to whether you are right-handed or left-handed.
