Maybe they're difficult to make, but these things seem ridiculously expensive for what you get. They will help keep your axle from slipping out if somebody loosens your quick release or axle nut or if they just work loose. This has never happened to me, but I like to prepare for the unexpected. Not all dropouts have holes for these, sometimes the tab is supposed to go on part of the dropout itself. Think about which way the axle would drop out if it loosened and you should be able to find a way to prevent that with these washers. Only two stars to represent what I consider a silly price.
