DANCO Twist Tight Kitchen Sink Strainer Assembly, 3-1/2 inch, Stainless Steel, 1-Pack (81077)

As a licensed plumber (20+ yrs) and homeowner, this is an excellent strainer, which is also sold at a great price. They are of good quality (not too thin as most cheaper strainers are), and they actually hold the water level in the sink, as expected. Therefore, one can successfully soak their dishes, stained laundry, or whatever it is they’re in need of soaking..!Bottom line: They are (very) affordable, truly functional, as well as comparable to many overpriced strainers ($80 and up) I’ve encountered through the years.

I bought a pair of these to replace 6 year old baskets that were installed when I replaced my kitchen sink. The old ones were made of plastic and fake chrome and were in bad shape. I put these new ones in and they fit perfect and were easy to tighten. I like the basket screw in feature. It makes a great seal for filling up the sink and holds the water until you unscrew it. Good value and I would recommend this product.

Hard plunging forced a leak in the o l d strainer. Ordered two of these and received them next day!Then I ordered the special wrench to remove the old strainer...tight space; very tight thread and slow turns with constant repositioning of wrench. After clean and prep, new one fit and almost ready, but no plumbers sealant. After a trip to local hardware and purchasing the smallest container of paste (probably enough for 20-30 strainers) the assembly was easy and the new threads turned smoothly, only needing a second tightening to fix a small leak. With the plumbers putty it would be an easy 5 stars but the trip to the hardware dropped this review to 4 stars.

I had a leak below my kitchen sink. While pulling all the old plumbing out to repair it, I must have disturbed the drain as it started to drip. Now I understand why you don't mess with old plumbing!I looked through all kinds of drains on Amazon, but they were either flimsy and poor quality or extremely expensive. I went through a couple pages of drains before I came across this Danco one. It's exactly what I was looking for and just like the old drain it replaced. It's stainless, not chromed brass and the whole thing was machined well. It installed easily and doesn't leak. I look forward to another 15-20 years of service out of this one now that I've re-plumbed the entire drain under my sink. Oh, I got a new Garbage Disposal too. :)

Great design versus the standard cheap drains that let water seep out.

I chose this drain so we could get a high quality drain that seals well. This did not disappoint. I used silicone to seal it to the sink. Any kitchen sink I have will have this drain and no other.
