It's not a gasket, but a very tiny flapper insert that is inserted where you screw the hose onto the main pump unit. When you unscrew your old hose, you should see this little flapper. Take care to see how it's inserted so you can do the same with the new one. Take care. It's very tiny.

Are these compatible with whitening tablets?

No, this handle is not designed to accept the whitening tablets.

Make note that you cannot just put the whitening tables into the water reservoir as they will not dissolve properly.  Even if they do dissolve a bit, the ingredients in the whitening tablet may be damaging to the water pump inside the unit.

Waterpik sells a special handle that has a spot for the whitening tablets.  That handle allows the water to flow around the tablet in the handle to help it dissolve into the water stream.

Water flows out of wand as soon as turned, blue button must be pressed to stop water flow, otherwise water squirts everywhere, is this normal ?

This wand works the same as the original Waterpik wand before they redesigned the wand to have an on/off switch. You must insert a tip into this wand handle and should hear a slight 'click' when inserting the tip into the wand for the tip to seat properly.  Once the unit is turned on, water will come out of the tip.  The blue button is used to temporarily stop the water flow.  I personally use the on/off switch on the unit instead of using the blue button.

If the water is squirting out of the tip, then the tip is seated properly and it's working normal.  If the water is squirting out of the base of the tip, then the tip is not seated properly.  Try turning off the unit and re-seating the tip into the wand.
