A simple device that works
Shorting caps for RCA audio inputs have been around for decades. Put these on the unused inputs to insure that you don't inject stray noise into the system. Most amps will have a low enough input impedance that stray noise will be shunted to ground, but these shorting caps are an inexpensive insurance policy.

Improper fit on every plug I tried
Very loose fit. Had to carefully crimp with channel locks. Still a very loose fit. Ended up taping over plug, wrapping tape around cable as well to keep from slipping off later.Try a different brand. Typical Chinese quality (requires rework/modification/improvement/compromise)

Did the trick!
I was getting a hum from my Bose Acoustimass subwoofer unit when I didn’t attach the center and rear speakers and left their RCA ports open. On a hunch, I purchased these and plugged them in. Problem solved!
