Startingpoint of this 72 mile long tour is Andermatt (4711 ft), which is situated at the entrance of the beautiful high valley in the central Swiss Alps. The first miles start with even stretches. Here the 11.18 mile long climb up to the Susten Pass (7297 ft) begins, which is often described as being the most beautiful Swiss pass. A narrow gorge will be overcome via numerous bridges and tunnels, before - we will reach the village Färningen. The upward sloping and endless seeming stretch continues till we finally pass the Sustli-House. From here on an interesting section with beautiful serpentines begins, which leads us up to the pass. The 16.8 mile long descent to Innertkirchen (2040ft) allows us to summon up strength for the next difficult climb to Grimsel Pass. The 16 miles long climb starts in Innertkirchen and leads us up and up on a well built road in large curves through small villages into the wilde Aar valley. The more we gather in height the wilder the landscape becomes: steep rocks to the left and right. Passing the largest dams the Grimselsee - and after some serpentines we arrive at the Grimsel Pass with its small lake, the Totensee. Riding 4.4 miles downhill through some curves; with a beautiful view of the opposite lying Furka Pass and of the Rôhne glacier. The 6.8 mile long climb to the Furka Pass begins right at the end of the village. Via several serpentines we continually climb the slope and, arrive at the hotel “Belvedere“ with its beautiful view. After a few perspiration causing miles we reach the Furka Pass. On the following down hill ride via Hospental (4898 ft) to Andermatt (4711 ft), which was our starting point, we can recover from the preceding stresses and strains. Distance Part 1: ca. 59 km Length: 130 Minutes
