The picture on the TV is amazing, that being said it DOES require some adjusting
The picture on the TV is amazing, that being said it DOES require some adjusting. Too many people go with the out of box settings or just go VIVID like the store's display style.Once some minor adjustments are set the picture quality if perfect.Another big plus is that the fact that you can program the remote to control everything including your cable / satellite box. So 1 remote controls them all. The ARC works flawlessly and sets up automatically. The downside is that it only sends bitstream 5.1. (for those who's older receivers dont passthrough HDR, this is the only way to get surround audio out from the TV while retaining HDR).The motion is smooth, the HDR looks fantastic, and the latency is very accurate when playing FPS video games (when in game mode).Don't let negative reviews scare you way if people don't know how to calibrate a TV. Buying a medium to higher end TV means you should understand how to tune it properly.

5 stars- but do you need this much power? might be overkill unless you're a gamer or into Ultra HD/4K movies.
Got it yesterday and have been amazed ever since. I can't even image how the top of the line OLED can be better... The setup was easy, the picture is absolutely incredible! The 4K and even regular blue ray have incredible levels of definition. Sony has really turned it around over the last few years, and it is great that they have regained much of their status. It feels like I am in a theatre watching a movie. I downloaded Hitchcock's "The Man Who Knew Too Much" 1956 version, in 1080P, and in some scenes I felt like I was there in the movie. The aps and smart functions were easy to use, and it was simple to get Amazon Prime working. However, basic HD viewing is about the same as my old 2009 LG- which doesn't surprise since the broadcast is 1080i- so while I highly recommend this to anyone who plays video games and is into Blue Ray and 4K, and Ultra HD movies- if you are just getting it for regular cable and sports, then its overkill. This technology is beyond what is being broadcast, and you can save some $ with a lower version.

DO NOT BUY!!! STOPPED WORKING! BLACK SCREEN AFTER 1 YEAR!!!!
I loved the size of this TV and the smart features, especially the fact that it worked with my Alexa. The streaming apps aren't great, but they still work. I typically use my Apple TV for streaming because the look is cleaner and the apps work quicker. Even when we first got the TV, there were a couple of times when it wouldn't turn on, we had to unplug it from the outlet and plug it back in. We do not keep it in the sun and have no children that would have messed with it. We only watch it on the weekends and evenings. My previous Sony TV is going on 10 years and works great still! That's one of the main reasons I wanted to get a Sony. I trusted Sony products and I trust Amazon. Now I am stuck with a 1 year and 1-month-old TV that no longer works and I am out $1200. The TV conveniently stopped working right after the 1-year warranty had expired and I am sure that Sony will tell me "We are sorry, there is nothing we can do since the TV is no longer under warranty." I miss the days when products were made to last and customers were valued.

Jaw-dropping HDR, excellent delivery service from XPO.
Excellent HDR picture. You have to adjust settings to 'unlock' the power features. I use this mainly to play Playstation 4 games like Gran Turismo Sport and it takes my breath away every time I turn it on. The built-in Netflix feature is great, too. I have to say though - the best part of this buying experience was the service from XPO logistics. They took great care in keeping me informed of the delivery. I got three calls from them. One the day prior to the delivery. One the morning of the delivery day. And one to say they were on their way. Very courteous and professional. I must say, as a professional packaging designer myself, Sony's packaging is always impressive. I highly recommend keeping the box and all the inserts and foam in order to move or recycle it later. The remote is nice and compact and true to Sony simplicty. Not minimalist, just simple. Very easy to set up (intuitive menus and selections). The best this about this TV is the High Dynamice Range (HDR).

Sony Android TV is Buggy
Delivery: I have to say I'm AMAZED at Amazon's delivery of this TV. My only gripe was that they came 4 hours late without calling me, I had to call them a few times to see where they were. Outside of that the delivery experience was impeccable, they came in, unpacked the box (the manufacturer box was bubble wrapped inside another box), setup the TV, and ensured it wasn't damaged before leaving.TV: I was really torn between the Sony X850E and the Samsung MU8000 but I went with the Sony for Android TV. I was super excited that I wouldn't need a dedicated streaming device like a Roku or Amazon FireTV. Within the first few days of use and the latest update, Android TV was so slow that at times it was unusable. I know there are debates on this topic, but I'll tell you there were times I'd turn my TV on and an application would stop working and the pop up would come up about 10+ times. Other times I would need to hard reboot the TV to restart Android TV for my application to work. The problems didn't get better, the crashes just became more frequent, and led me to process a return with Amazon (they are picking up the TV on Friday). This TV has a lot promise, the screen and picture quality is impressive, but the operating system needs work. Sony needs to invest in a beefier processor and do some more testing before releasing updates to the public. I was even more disappointed as I read more on the topic, consumers have suffered from these Android TV struggles with Sony TVs for a few years now, I wish Sony listened to their customers and invested in fixing it. In the meantime, I'm going to stick with Samsung TVs.
