What kind of concrete is best for making castings with these type of molds?

I use cement-all in the blue bag. I think it's actually called mortar mix. I've tried the concrete-all and not a good result. The cement-all quick set works great and you can sometimes demold within an hour I usually give it 1.5 to 2 hours. The temperature can affect set up time. Let your concrete container cure for a couple of days before sealing.

how do you use mold for a planter for the hole? I see the hole on the outer hard case but not on the mold?

You'll use the provided plug to make the hole.

What is the volume these can hold?

I would say about 300 g for the round and square molds. The oval holds closer to 350 g. These are estimates as I usually make aboout 700 g of concrete and pour as many as I can (including other molds). Good luck.
