Excellent Camcorder for the Price.
The Besteker camcorder is a basic camcorder which allows the user to record videos (up to HD resolution) onto an SD memory card (up to 32 GB in size). The camcorder comes with a small pouch (just large enough for the camcorder itself), a USB cord, an audio-video cable for connecting the camcorder to home video equipment, a rechargeable battery, and a charger. An instruction manual is also included. SD cards are not included; and, they are required to allow the camcorder to record. The camcorder has a built-in LED light for recording under dark lighting conditions. The range of the LED light is somewhat limited; so, recording under brighter conditions is preferable. The camcorder has video resolution settings which range from standard definition to high definition. The trade off with increased resolution is frame rate. A standard definition video shoots at roughly 30 fps (which is the frame rate of old analogue television); while, a high definition video shoots at roughly 15 fps. Some situations may call for the higher image resolution; but, the higher frame rate of the lower resolution videos can be more pleasant to watch. The camcorder can also be set to snap still photos as well. One of the nicest features of the camcorder is the time/date stamp. The camcorder allows the user to add the time and date to the lower right hand corner of the videos. This feature can be set to show both the time and date, just the date alone, or no time or date. This is a feature which was so common on older analogue camcorders and which was apparently discontinued on most newer digital camcorders, even though it was a very useful feature to have. People may not see the immediate need for this feature; but when they watch old videos years later, it is amazing how quickly the time and date when a particular video was recorded can be forgotten. One feature which leaves something to be desired is the zoom. Optical zoom is always preferable to digital zoom; and, this camcorder has only digital zoom. Furthermore, the zoom is not smooth (there is a slightly jittery quality to the way the camcorder zooms in and out). The camcorder produces decent quality videos for the price. The video is clear; and, the colors look vivid. Some reviewers complain about how poor the videos are in quality; but, the relative quality depends on the videos to which this camcorder's videos are being compared. Because of the advancement of technology, there are many portable phones which probably produce much better video than this camcorder does. However, if this camcorder were to be compared to the older analogue camcorders which were manufactured at least two decades earlier, the quality of the video produced by this digital camcorder is probably comparable and is amazing considering the camcorder's price. The audio from the camcorder's built-in microphone isn't the best; but, it is sufficient. It is easily comparable to the audio produced by the older analogue camcorders (keep in mind that audio on old camcorders tended to be an afterthought, even on most of the higher end models). This camcorder produces only one (monaural) channel of audio (or at least, the included audio/video cable accommodates only one channel of sound). One improvement over the older analogue camcorders from two decades earlier was the digital camcorders size and weight. The older analogue camcorders were much larger and had to be carried in a bag attached to a shoulder strap. This newer digital camcorder was much lighter in weight as well as small enough to be carried inside a jacket pocket. The camcorder's rechargeable battery also permits much longer recording times compared to the batteries in the older analogue camcorders, partially because the newer batteries are not required to drive mechanical parts. The on-screen menu has pros and cons. This menu is nice to have when it is needed; and, it certainly includes a lot of controls for settings of the camcorder's various functions. However, when the camcorder is connected to a television, the camcorder still tends to display the menu superimposed on top of the image of the video. It would be nice to be able to turn off this superimposed menu for purposes of viewing or transferring the videos. If there is an option for turning off the display of this superimposed menu, I haven't found it yet.Overall, this is a nice little camcorder for the price. There may be better options which cost more money; but, this camcorder offers a lot for the money. Whether you want to record your son's little league game or record the family opening their Christmas gifts, this camcorder will definitely be up to the task.

Pretty nice night vision camera
Pretty nice night vision camera. The IR light range is only a few feet so I will have to purchase additional lighting. Takes nice still pictures. Video quality is good, but there doesn't seem to be image stabilization so unless you have a very stead hand the vids will be shaky. Editing software helps with this. I have tested this out at home at night but have not yet used for the purpose intended (we are going ghost hunting in Tombstone) so I will update this review as soon as we get some footage. So far I have not noticed any marked difference in sound using the boom mic. I will update on this as well.

user's manual not translated very well
The camera works pretty good for the price, little grainy. The biggest issue i have is with the "User's Manual". I know its made in China but the manual was not translated very well. It was like a first grader wrote it. I ended up learning how to work the camera by trial and error.

Works but just barely
Night vision works well but doesn't have the best range so you'll probably need an external IR light attachment. The lense angle is absolutely horrid so buy a wide angle lens if you actually want to use this. Zooming is very slow and choppy, and it's digital so it's basically worthless. I'm not sure if it was the camera's fault or my card's but my footage was completely corrupted when I went to edit it after a night of filming something pretty important. After about a week of owning it the menu stopped responding for no reason. I haven't tested the microphone. If you're using this for night vision only (or don't care about picture quality), have an IR light and a wide angle lens, and if the menu actually works, then it's not half bad for the price.

Tiny bit of good but the bad outweighed my purchase
I gave it 2 stars because it came nicely packed and the way it looks built, you feel like it may have a good chance of working out. So the only good i saw was that the picture quality is okay and passable. The bad outweighed this....sound quality is almost non existant and if you hear anything at all it sounds like your underwater so this mad me sad. Another problem is that if you pause midway of filming and close the screen...it will keep recording but look like its recording in a fast foward way. So i personally would not reccomend this purchase...but the good news was they returned it immedately. I guess its true what they say...just use your cellphone. Its crazy but its better quality.

Great little camera camcorder for recording your life's moments
Great little camera camcorder for recording your life's moments. This is very small and handy and comes with a carry pouch. The product is nice but first, you have to go thru instruction manual to learn about all modes and setting available in it. Picture quality is good as per my expectation. it's a great little bundle of joy which you can use to capture your kid's activities or your fun activities or record a video for youtube.Overall it's a good buy for me. Will upload pics taken by this camera so that you can check quality. Note:- Sometimes Amazon compresses the images so check for various revies with pics

Grainy videos. An iphone can do much better.
Video quality (even when set to the highest resolution) is far worse than the videos I could just take with my cell phone. Videos come out grainy, shaky, jerky looking and resemble home videos from the 90s.Audio quality is bad. Controls are confusing and difficult to navigate. Runs slowly. All over terrible and will be returning. Super disappointed.

Bad video & audio isnt made up with Bargain Price Tag
Listen to the other reviews....this thing is junk. They should rebrand this as a Fisher Price item for "My first Camcorder" or something thereof. Quality is horrible for video...super choppy even at highest settings. And audio is good for the first 10-15 seconds and then fades and muddies. This was the deal breaker as I wanted to use to record some live music. I am returning and maybe just upgrade my cell phone and chalk this as a lesson learned in "listen to amazon reviewers" and trust negative reviews.
