How Does an Egg Hatch?: Life Cycles with The Very Hungry Caterpillar (The World of Eric Carle) : Carle, Eric: desertcart.co.uk: Books Review: Very useful information - Very useful information book and aimed at right age children. Only downful is, the book size; as would perfered it along bigger Review: Key details just skipped over - My 17m old daughter loves the Hungry Caterpillar, so I bought this book to teach her about birds this spring. There are a few disappointing aspects of this book. It promised a lot but didn't really deliver. Chick development inside the egg was only covered in words - for a board book for toddlers everything needs to be shown. You see an egg and then chick; nothing inbetween. The hatching was also largely missed out - you see a small black line on the egg and then a chick - nothing shown about hatching really or the chick needing to dry off. Also the temperature of the nest is only given in °F. This book could have been so much better.

I actually thought it would be longer and a little more in depth. It’s more for a one year old.

My daughter likes Eric Carle and chickens so this was a perfect addition. Simple and to the point for kids as well as colorful.
