Jack Spade Men's Waxwear Field Messenger, Royal Blue

I have owned this bag for over five months now, so I can confidently say that I LOVE this bag!I think it is very stylish; I will echo another reviewer's observation that the waxwear material accumulates scuffs which quickly gives the bag a worn character. The adjustable strap is wide and wears comfortably. I originally wanted the olive colored bag but opted for the chocolate due to its lower price. I hardly regret my decision because the dark brown color beautifully walks the line between dressed-up and rugged.The bag holds a lot of stuff. It can hold an average-length book, sunglasses, a point-and-shoot camera, a 14" laptop in a zipped sleeve, the laptop's AC adapter, a 1/2" expanding file, a small umbrella, a Moleskine notebook, two pens, and a bunch of small things. The snap-button closure does well with keeping everything inside. The rest of the hardware are solid as they are handsome; the zipper has nice big teeth and the zipper handles and strap slider are silver-colored and tastefully embossed with the Jack Spade logo.An underrated feature of this bag is the wide external pocket, which is great when you are in a hurry!The only minor complaint I have is that it took a while to get used to the bag not having a handle. But overall, I am very happy with this purchase!

I bought this as a gift for my husband because he loves the product and he owned one previously that lasted over 8 years. I wanted to get him a new one for Christmas because it seemed like a long lasting, very durable, and quality assured messenger bag that stood the test of time and travel. He has had the bag for less the 3 months and the button to close the flap has already broken. Im very disappointed in the product particularly since this is a "luxury brand" with a 'luxury' price tag, I expect quality craftsmanship that lasts longer then 3 years...let alone 3 MONTHS. I would also expect that Amazon would have a way to return it to Jack Spade for it being defective but for some reason we are no longer given the option of returning it, even though I bought in December.

bigger and bulkier than i expected.

Great, durable bag. Roomy, with good storage options for various items. Only complaint: laptop interior sleeve is much smaller than rest of bag, and as a result doesn't fit 15" laptops.

I first bought this bag for my son for his 30th birthday (in forest green -- it was on sale at the Jack Spade store in NYC). He wasn't sure about the color at first, but ended up loving the bag (and the color) and said that he got loads of comments and compliments on it over the years. The bag survived all of his global business travels for five years, but then he said that the strap started to fray a bit. So for his 35th birthday, which was a few days ago, I ordered the chocolate brown wax wear bag from Amazon and he was very excited to get it! His 15-inch laptop fits beautifully, he loves the dark brown color, the rugged look and feel of the bag, and the way the strap fits -- and he loves getting all the compliments on the bag. I hope this bag is still available when he turns 40 so I can continue the birthday tradition! Highly recommended!

Great product. I had owned the same model for years before it wore out. Expect to keep this one for years to come.

Love it- had a Jack Spade, Greenstreet (line) bag for years- this one is the same but nicer and more expensive- the bag is great/ looks great- very practical

It's a big bag, and unlike another reviewer, I had no trouble fitting a full sized 15" laptop inside the main pocket. It's not really designed as a laptop case and doesn't have any specific features or extra padding etc. to protect a laptop. But especially for a smaller, lighter wight, laptop you could just throw it in with all your other stuff. There is an inner thin pocket on the side of the main pocket that would more securely hold an 11-13" laptop.The waxed material is interesting. It has a very slightly tacky waxy feel to it but not troublesome. It should be completely rain and snow proof, but I would worry about leaving it in a hot car for fear the wax would liquefy and end up messy or getting wax stains on stuff. I have not yet performed this experiment, and may well be worrying over nothing.There's an outside simple pocket on the back, a zippered pocket on the front that's covered by the flap, and a pocket on the inside front split into two small pockets and two pen pockets. The main flap closure is via two oversized snaps, with two snap positions on the flap. It's reasonably easy to snap it closed without fishing around too much to get the snaps aligned.The over-all feeling is one of ruggedness. The waxed material acquires scuffs and quickly looks well-used. The shoulder strap is non-removable, but soft, wide and adjustable.The Chocolate color leans more towards black than brown (dark rather than milk as it were).Four out of five.G.
