Wow! I've been afraid to write a review because I keep thinking I'm missing something.Let me start by saying I bought 2 Oreck air purifiers about 20 yrs ago and they literally transformed our smaller home. I was having major sinus problems, nose bleeds, swelling of my sinuses and eyes, etc, and doctoring with 3 different doctors . Getting the purifiers was part of what I did to try to deal with my extreme issues.We heated with a wood burner so I put one of the purifiers in that room. The other, I placed in our bedroom and kept the door closed when I could, unless I had to open it for the heat. When you walked into the bedroom, the air quality was noticibly different. The room with the woodstove, was noticibly less dusty. I could always tell when the filters needed changed because of the amount of dust on the furniture. As a side note, all my sinus issues also greatly improved.We replaced the bearings on those machines several times over the years. Because of my husband's line of work, he had access to them.We moved 3 yrs ago but I've been without those machines for 5-6 years total. Our new home is all cedar, has a big "great room" with a loft. (About 2000-2500 sf in that space alone) I purchased the large unit a week ago after we noticed a LOT of dust particles in the air. It was very bad and my furniture always had a lot of dust pileup, daily. (We also changed the filter on the AC.) Since doing both of those things, we have very little floating particles visible in the sunlight now and after 5 days, I have no dust on my furniture. And, the air just feels so much cleaner to breathe.After seeing the difference with just the one, I have now ordered a second large unit that I will place in the loft, and a medium one that I will place in our bedroom. Going into allergy season for me, I'm trying to do what I can to be ready.It is a huge investment, financially, to purchase 3 of these, but it will most likely keep us healthier and probably prevent sinus infections and other sicknesses. I have thought long and hard before spending this money, because it does not come easy. But my air filter/vacuum quit working 2 weeks ago and this investment was a whole lot cheaper than having to replace that vacuum.We also have 2 Lab dogs in the house all the time, and a 3rd one (over 100#) 3-4 days /week. They are confined to the great room, where I have 2 dog beds next to the air purifier. I'm fanatic about preventing dog odors and this will help with that also.I do highly recommend this product. On the "Auto" setting and Speed 1, it is so quiet you can't hear it. Speed 2 is also quiet but you can hear it a bit. Speed 3 is like a quieter fan.I'm very pleased with this purchase and felt confident in making it because of my 20 years of experience with Oreck air purifiers.*No one has contacted me about writing a positive review. This Oreck Air Response Air Purifier works great. We live out in the country and our house has a lot of dust. So when we got this I did a major dusting. I could not believe all the dust and other things that it collected in the first filter (carbon filter) the second filter still looks great, did have it on speed 3 to move the air and yes on speed 3 it is noisy but on auto, speed 1, and 2 you can not hear it running. We have had this for a month or so and it has kept the dust down in the air which is so helpful. Also we burn incense at times and I noticed the sensor light change color due to the air quality in the room, I was amazed. It works great and I would recommend it.

Really good so far. Improves air quality noticeably. Bought it for the smoke during recent wildfires. Helped me sleep at night at least. It says that it can sense dust and change the fan speed, but isn't that sensitive. Honestly, there isn't really a need to run it any higher than the first fan setting unless you are doing something that kicks up a ton of dust. Helps keep allergies down as intended, and comes with extra filters and whatnot. Very quiet, unobtrusive in the room and rather stylish. Very easy to use. Does a fine job in medium to large rooms. I have been running it for over a month now, and I haven't had to clean or change the filter.

So far this has been the quietest HEPA air purifier I've ever owned. I am moderately asthmatic, severely allergic to envronmental allergens, mildly VOC sensitive, and Autistic, so I'm very picky concerning my HEPA cleaners in terms of cleaning and noise. For those concerned about Styrofoam gassing (VOC), I can attest that there is a moderate chemical smell from the packaging (open cell polystyrene and cardboard) which dissipates after 6 hours of operation. Inside the Oreck WK16000 there is minimal, if any, closed cell Styrofoam in the baffling-- mostly hard plastics and a few neoprene seals. The HEPA appears to be approximately MERV-13, given the density of the material's weave and airflow output. The carbon prefilter is thin (1/8-inch thick), which is easily replaced with the standard 1/4-inch stuff that is readily available in big rolls. I took an average of my own HEPA air cleaners' decibel ratings at different distances and heights for comparison:Oreck WK1600 (Small Room) CEDR= 100; Low= 10 dB; Mid= 28 dB; High= 49dB.Hunter 30090 (Small Room) CEDR= unlisted; Low= 36 dB; Mid= 42 dB; High= 48dB.Whirlpool Whispure AP51000K (L.R.) CEDR=315; Low= 41 dB; Mid= 47 dB; High= 51dB.***CONCLUSION:*** So far the Oreck WK16000 meets all my stringent demands for air purification, and is by far the quietest small room HEPA I've ever owned. It has become my HEPA of choice for my bedroom. Filters and pre-filters are priced economically, compared to other HEPA's of similar size. Simply put, I'm amazed and pleased. I intend to eventually replace my other household HEPAS with Oreck WK16xxx Air Cleaners.

Great air purifier and so easy to use.

We run this 24x7 in our bedroom. We have dogs and this is one of very few rooms we have with carpet, so dust is present. It really keeps the air nice, and adds a nice white noise to the room (we live in the country and it's dead silent at night). Since all the controls are electronic, it needs to be turned back on after power outages. That's how I learned of the white noise...I didn't notice it while running, but when I turned off the TV, it was obvious.This unit supposedly has some auto features, although I don't use them. I simply set it on 2 (med), and dark mode and let it run. Every so often, I vacuum the carbon pre-filter with a brush attachment to remove the dust that it traps before reaching the high quality HEPA filter.This unit was a bit more expensive than some, but the quality is really good and I'd definitely buy it again.

I have in past used several of Oreck's previous air filtration models. I found their fans very noisy, but the quality was good. They worked well and were pretty reliable, although very expensive. This unit is somewhat different. Still expensive, but very efficient, very sleek and modern looking, with a quiet and efficient fan. It seems to be doing a good job, but as I have it in an open plan living area (approx. 800 sq ft, 74 sq m) , I leave the fan on the second speed, so haven't used the automatic feature. Mind you I haven't yet cooked bacon while burning toast, so the unit has not yet had an opportunity to show me what its auto mode can do. Good product, well made, hope it lasts a long time.
