This collection has EVERYTHING you need to prepare for the NSAA; it's amazing value and a really helpful resource for anyone studying towards the test.

The pros: there are not a lot of practice papers online, and this can substitute for the lack.Cons: They say it's written by 'experts' but I think the experts forget that this is a NSAA specific prep book, not for the BPhO. The section 2 questions are all from A2 physics syllabus which is specifically stated by Cambridge to NOT be included in the actual exam, hence I denounce the questions to be poorly written. I found a question which required the Lorentz length contraction in the multiple choice section - this isn't even in A-Level physics, let alone AS level!

A great deal of the answers to the subject exercises and mock papers are wrong.The style of questions present in both of the above are not very similar to those found in the Cambridge past-papers.Many of the questions are long and 'wordy', which I do not feel represents the qualities of the 3 papers available from Cambridge.There are many mistakes present in the main content of the book and the formatting is often poor. For example, some questions will have options "I, II, III IV, etc.", but the answers will quote "A, B, C, D, etc.". (not a deal breaker, but certainly an indicator of quality).Some of the questions present in the extended answers section are incredibly easy (easier than the MCQ section), while others seem to be ludicrously difficult and certainly far beyond the standards of the 3 aforementioned official papers.The answers to the official papers have been useful when stuck, however, in a few cases, they have noted different answers to those present in the official mark scheme.

Purchased this book as preparation for the NSAA but I am not at all impressed. Littered with mistakes in calculations (e.g. converting cm3 to m3 incorrectly) and formatting issues, for example one of the pages is printed at half size. In addition, the ‘what to know’ section features topics not even mentioned on the specification, and which some candidates will not have studied yet. Not worth the money.

Given that there is a lack of practice papers online for the NSAA, this book is very helpful and provides many opportunities to practice the exam technique required for NSAA as well as giving tips and fully worked answers!

great book, it’s way bigger than you expect and has a HUGE amount of questions covering everything you could need for NSAA, i found it incredibly useful for the exam as there is a lack of questions online and this book has so many more to practice, worth buying for your preparation.
