Mythology of the Blackfoot Indian.
Excellent book. Being Blackfoot myself I do relate. There are many more things that was left unsaid. Good book, I recommended it.

good anthology of Blackfoot legends
I found the star lore to be particularly interesting. There are common elements with modern SF stories in my opinion, for example the stories of the up above people are reminiscent of 2001 a space oddessy I.e. That man has been influenced by extra-terrestrials during his development.

Very Helpful
Needed a book to fill me in on some spiritual aspects of the Blackfoot people for a writing exercise. This did the job.

A Classic for Mythologists and Ethnogaphers
Wissler's expertise on Northern Plains Indians focused on Blackfoot, and his work provides extensive coverage of their myths. The stories were collected by D. C. Duvall in the early 20th century and later edited by Wissler with some analysis for the Bureau of American Ethnology. I was interested to see that myths centering on males were balanced by ones with Elk Woman and Otter Woman as main characters.Likely what will surprise most readers is how much of the mythology reflects an extensive knowledge and concern with astronomy, a finding that is more and more revealed to us as we get to know Indian cultures better.A bonus on the latest edition of the book is a forward by Alice Kehoe, one of anthropology's foremost experts on North American Indians. Good read
An interesting introduction to the Blackfoot. I am about halfway though it. It's something you can pick up and read a bit when ever you like.
