North and South poles mixed up/reversed
The compass is meant to be held with the button on top and hinge on bottom, but with this configuration, South is pointed upward. This puts North and South poles mixed up and opposite, which is a glaring issue.Also, the clasp itself is very weak and will barely close. I'm happy I didn't spend much on this.

good for a costume i guess? but not much else
fun trinket for the price-- but very fragile!!! certainly not meant for regular use. NOTE: the compass part and the locket part it sits inside are two separate pieces. When it first arrived the actual compass part was not secured inside the locket, but was free floating and would fall out when you opened it, and would inadvertently rotate inside the locker so that North was never in the same place when you opened the locket. it dropped from a height of less than 2ft and not only did the glass shatter beyond repair, but the needle flew off and disappeared. very disappointed with this-- but it was cheap, and you often get what you pay for-- in this case, this item was dirt cheap so i shouldnt have expected much.This would be good for a single use costume i guess, but not much else, and even as a costume accessory i doubt you would get even more than one use out of it.
