Q: Do the spikes come out? Can I replace them?

Yes, spikes come in separate bag with wrench. You can swap them out when they get worn out.

Q: Are the sizes male or female?

The description says women's, I bought my daughter her normal size and they were way too big. I think they are actually men’s sizing.

Q: what distances is this made for?

Since these are competition spikes they are great for the 800 and even 2 mile. However I run the 400 as well and they are just as great. But I definitely would not recommend them for sprints as they drag and are chunkier on the ball of the foot. I have not used them for xc but I can't possibly imagine them not bwing great for that as well.
