This placemat is for decoration only. It will not protect your table from heat or cold. As you can see the heat scorched my table leaving the imprint of the placemat behind.

These placemat were very nice. I loved the look though they were really large. I draped it over the edge of the table, otherwise it would've taken up most of the table. There was a slight smell when I opened the plastic but it dissipated overnight. Great purchase!

I like them, they are thick and golden in color but not so scandalous
