American history, sadly.
From the early 19th century, a personal, nuanced and tragic view of our government's treatment of the native people in its midst. A sad reminder that the current treatment of immigrants to America is no different from how the indigenous were treated.

Black Hawk was a true warrior in the best sense of the term
A beautifully written and translated work of a much-misunderstood man, people, and era. A must-read for modern Americans to understand our heritage vis-a-vis the native peoples.

Yes!
Great book! I learned a lot and it was in great condition. An important part of Illinois and American history.

Just OK,
Not particularly exciting. Was hoping to read more about his killings in battles. I'm sure he did much more of it, just not very much in this particular book. I don't think I finished it.

Black Hawk Very Interesting
Initially I purchased this book as a required course reading, and we know how exciting those kinds of books can be :-), but after reading it I found it very interesting and informative. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in American History in relation to Native Americans
