About Cashmere Cashmere wool fiber is obtained from “Cashmere goats.” Historically, fine-haired Cashmere goats have been called Capra hircus laniger, as if they were a subspecies of the domestic goat Capra Hircus. Cashmere goats produce a double fleece that consists of a fine, soft undercoat or under-down of hair mingled with a straighter and much coarser outer coating of hair called Guard Hair. Wegner was born April 2nd 1914 and passed on January 26th, 2007. Hans grew up in southern Denmark and early on made a profession in wood cabinet making. He developed an affinity toward crafting with natural wood. Later in life, he became part of the Copenhagen Carpenters guild and began attending furniture exhibits. Wegner will likely be remembered for his contributions toward Modern Danish Furniture Design. For Hans, this design would start with wooden chairs in his early years. Later he would use a combination of wood and fabrics in his designs, a good example being the Shell Chair. In 1960, he released in limited production the CH445 Hans J Wegner Wing Chair. The wing chair featured a solid wooden frame however it was covered with full upholstery in both leather and fabric. Hans received more than a few awards. In 1951, he took the Lunning prize and Gran Prix of Milan. In 1959, he was awarded Royal Designer by the Royal Society of Arts in London.
