KolpinGun Boot Iv Loop Bracket - 20032, Black

Not everyone will need this type of set up but I thought I would share. This may not be the best way to carry a rifle on a motorcycle but I needed a setup that could carry my gear and rifle. I only use fire roads so the bumps shouldn't be too bad. Hopefully for this coming season this set up will work. I have the Kolpin IV boot.

Works well on my atv and can be positioned for use.

I installed this item on the rear rack of my new Honda Rancher and tested it with a light (7lb) mountain rifle in a (new) Gunboot 6.0, to which this item is advertised to be compaitible for.The test ride lasted approximately 3 hours on Alaska mountain trails, which were mostly muddy and gravely in nature, open terrain (not tight woods) and it was around 40F outside with light rain. Pretty representative of fall conditions where one would use this for moose hunting, but definitely a lot less riding with a lighter rifle than I would typically use, as this was a test ride.The mount installed easily enough on the ATV, the instructions were satisfactory, and the fit and finish on the components seem of decent quality (mild steel with black semi-gloss powdercoat). The bolts were tightened to reasonable torque specifications (nuts were nylocks) and the gun boot initially had a tight, secure fit.Within half of a mile of riding the angled gun boot mount released from it's initial position and rotated parallel with the base mount, bottoming out on the loop mount. Either the powdercoat compressed or the bolt yielded from the vibration loads, but regardless, the gun boot was now resting on the rear rack. I did not see the point in returning to the truck so I continued on the ride with my companion who was leading on the trail ahead of me.Not only did the bolt hold fail, the rear boot mount (with the pin as shown in the picture) splayed out and allowed the boot to become loose and shake about, which in turn excessively wore on the hard plastic boot enlarging that hole. The rest of the ride the boot would shake about in the hoop mount, and the gun boot wore my rear rack down to the metal.So overall, very disappointed with this product form a company that is supposed to specialize in ATV mount/gun boot systems. It will require fabrication of a new rear boot mount and a secondary bolt to secure the angle of the rack, and that may or may not solve the design short-comings. Pretty frustrating when you pay what you do for this type of item.I am only glad that I tested this out before heading out on a moose hunt with a magnum calibre rifle and full load of gear & gas. If the ride had been any longer the mount would have worn thru the bottom of the gun boot, exposing my rifle to the mud, dirt, and water...

This is the 3rd item I've purchased from Kolbin and so far I'm very happy with the products they sell, they actually work as they should and more importantly they work like I wanted them to. The only thing I really wish they would do is include stainless steel nuts and bolts. They sell good products that come with very cheap hardware. I'd rather pay a couple extra bucks to get better hardware. Then I'd be happy to give them 5 stars.

Gun Boot IV Loop Bracket took some time to install onto my 2009 Sportsman 500 HO rear loading deck, but it is secure for the Kolpin Gun Boot 6.0 Transport case. I added a short bungee cord at the barrel end of the Transport case to reduce some of the bounce while in motion. I have not had any loosening of the Loop Bracket's nylon nut and bolt mounting hardware. If not being used to carry the Transport case, the Loop Bracket hardware could be a "snag" item when using the 4-wheeler, but a removable Polaris Lock and Ride gun boot holder fitting the Gun Boot 6.0 Transport case for my model year of Polaris was not available.

Have been working on this idea for a while. Was exactly what I needed to mount on my bicycle. Plenty of options for mounting. I was expecting to have to modify or make a trip to hardware store. Not necessary. Very impressed with versatility.

I mounted this on the rear Cycle Racks rack on my Yamaha TW200, which is a popular hunting and fishing utilitarian bike.This is a fairly stout gun boot mount, however, it is recommended that you add additional support mounts so that the loaded gun boot does not torque itself loose or out of position. I added a turnbuckle with double hooks as well as a stainless steel hose clamp. I also am using a heavy duty bungee cord to add tension from the gun boot to the rear rack on my bike. These adds seem to keep everything tight.

If large clamp plate does not work in your application,trip to local big box store provides clamps with "plate" rather than washers.Make clean sturdy mount.

Arrived quickly and in great order. Product itself is limited a bit as to model of bike you install it on - all bike racks are a bit different and some "McGyver" skills may be required to get it snug and positioned the way you want. Overall it does what I needed and is good quality as well..

I’m not sure the make of my gun case. It’s square and Fits perfectly in this HolderWill hopefully last a long time
