The Nest Home Design Handbook: Simple ways to decorate, organize, and personalize your place

Real, applicable, useful tips from professionals for the amateur. Offers practical help to design your home. Simply Great!
This wonderfully presented and resourceful text is for those looking for 'tips and tricks' to refresh, re-inspire or redesign their home. The tips are easy, succient, useful and easy to apply yourself. Thoughtful page design, typeface, paper quality and purposeful narrative and photography help to draw inspiration. The beauty of the book is that it takes you by the hand and looks at each room individually, while still asking you to question what you want from your home. This logical order of things is great, but even more so for those who have no experience in designing rooms and homes. The detailed index, also contains lists of suppliers, and a thoughtful cut/paste design sheet, for you to mix and match shapes and sizes to have an idea of the end result. And because interior design can be very 'era-based', the relatively recent publication date means the book remains relevant. (In my opinion, too few books have been published in this category, leaving the public to turn to older texts - or more expensively, professionals - to draw on inspiration.Actually, I bought the book soley for bedrooms, and my general (and only) complaint is that since the book covers the whole home, it only devotes a few pages to each room; but while I feel it could have been much longer the narrative as well as those from other sections still gave me a lot of inspiration. In fact, the book gave me more inspiration than many books that were solely devoted to bedrooms - that says a lot.Affordably priced and designed into wonderful bite-sized chunks, make this a lovely weekend read, if not for inspiration but simply for interest and information. The information is small enough for you to absorb but still relevant enough to think about how to personalise it to your own taste; I appreciate this kind of detail which encourages you to take off your training wheels and think for yourself from what you've read. The designer-quality feel, layout and paper make it an obvious choice for the inevitable 'coffee table' book; but unlike many, this may get a lot more visitors legitimately flicking through. This is the stuff practical and useful design books (in my opinion) should be made of, I cant understand why there aren't more of them, so please release a 2nd book! Simply great.

LOVE this book
This book has helped me so much. I made use of the lists they provide for you in the back and when I went shopping for a room in my house, I had my list ready to go and picked everything out. It was so helpful. I love all the ideas and WOW, it is SO easy to read and easy to follow. This book has great tips along the sides of the pages and explains everything so easily, and it's easy on your eyes. The font and the way they designed the book layout is great, like I said, easy to read and understand. Very modern ideas that I love. Plus it's a pretty book to put on display. I can't say enought about this, I would recommend this to anyone who wants an easy read for fresh and modern approaches to interior design.

Wonderful, create tips for those that like to "invent"
I purchased this book because I wanted some unique ideas in an easy to read format and sure enough, this is what I was given!!! I love it!!! It is FULL of pictures which makes it easy for my husband to flip through and say like it/hate it....and that brings a huge grin to my face ;-) Oh, we relocate every three to four years (nope, not a military family) and we ALWAYS have new places and spaces. This gives great advice on using what you have and really adding speacial pieces.

Great Basic Design Book
I really enjoyed looking through this book. I haven't read the whole thing though but what I have read is great! It gives great tips, pictures, a nice reference in back of the book, and some color schemes. This is a great book for just getting started with decorating, or if you would like some fresh ideas.

some text in unreadable colors
I purchased this book because I am decorating my first home and I am overwhelmed. The book is too difficult to read. Some of the most important text in the book are written in light colored print and is not easily readable. Statistics tells that upwards of 50% of our population is color-blind so why the editors, writers of this book didn't take this into consideration is mind boggling.

One of the best!
This book is one of the best I've bought on decorating. It is full of great and useful information, gives excellent ideas, has wonderful pictures and offers an overall look on renovation and changing (or altering a little bit) your space. Nicely organised and gives insight on proper (when it comes to functionality) lay-outs of rooms. I love it.

good little book
Not a bad home design book. Gives some examples on how to personalize your home. Did appear a little dated in the information and pictures but did give a few good examples.

Enjoyed it thoroughly
Really nice book. Easy to understand and some great designs. For me, however, I found it slightly dated (early to late 00's) but some great background information.Enjoyed it.
