It is 1 pack of 8 individually wrapped warmers. You can use each separately.

Q: How long will they stay useful prior to open? Do they have time frame of then they won't activate?

I've had some for at least 2 years and they're just fine once they're opened... Since their air activated I imagine they'll have quite a long shelf life if left in their sealed packaging.
