Ladybug Girl and Bumblebee Boy Review: The best 1 of 3 - thus far - My 3-year old little girl loves the Ladybug Girl series. In fact, she has a Ladybug Girl skirt that she often wears to daycare. As of this posting, we own three of the full-length books and a few of the shorter board books. Ladybug Girl and Bumblebee Boy is by far her favorite, followed closely by Ladybug Girl at the Beach. My daughter is really into superheroes and Paw Patrol so naturally, she took to this series of book. What she likes most about this book in the series is that it showcases Ladybug Girl’s “superhero” prowess. No spoiler here, but, she does feel bad for the squirrel who looks “so cute.” Our bedtime routine usually consists of three short books and five songs before bed. What I like about this book is that it is just long enough that I could get by reading just one book prior to the songs. I am all for the Biscuit series, but I just can’t “woof” 43 times a night. I also like how this book teaches how to cope with frustration and how to promote compromise. It’s better to work together than to fight one another. The way that they highlight the names of the “heroes” is very beneficial as well. My daughter can recognize the names and associate them to the characters, which has helped her with associating letters to words to objects. She can even recognize Bingo’s name, which is not highlighted. Overall, her and I both love the series. The quality of the book is high for both content and structure. The paper is thick and glossy, and the artwork is quite colorful. A+ on the toddler scale. Review: Cute book. Terrible packaging by desertcart - Love the book!! Reminds me of my son and his best girl friend. They have the same conversations, play the same games, and make the same expressions, it’s so relatable. I have heard some of the lines from the book come right out my son’s mouth, “we work together to fight bad guys!” Unfortunately this book, that I ordered as a gift and paid extra to have delivered quickly, arrived with a torn and crinkled cover. A replacement will take 7 days to arrive and won’t get here in time. Gifting damaged books sucks. The book was shipped in a box waaay too big for it and had other items included with zero stuffing to keep it all from moving around. The book had zero chance of arriving in good condition. I’m super disappointed.

Most authentic, appropriate, lovable series.
These books are fantastic. The illustrations are awesome. The text is simple yet entertaining and engaging. The details are sharp and effective, like Toni Morrison. The story-line completely captures the magic of being a kid, the excitement of childhood adventures and the turmoil of navigating the unfamiliar rough seas of learning social skills. The characters are empowering, brave, reflective, and imperfect. Children can easily see themselves in the characters and then learn how to handle situations when they make a mistake or are afraid/uncertain what will happen if they confront the conflict. My 3 year old loves these books and I love buying them for her. I change a few things, like "bad guys" and "mean" but that's just my own peculiarity. These books are true to childhood games. Completely appropriate and authentic.

Great book for the parent and the child
I assumed this book would be a little advanced for my 2-year-old, because there is a lot of text; she might drift off and get bored. On the contrary, she is mesmorized! The primary colors of the two children's clothes hold her attention. She likes to go back to the page that has the playground and name all of the equipment. There is a lot to point out and talk about as we read about the central theme, which about children learning creatively to work out social situations on their own (compromise and negotiate with other children). This will probably be a favorite for awhile. Other nice thematic touches: counting, jumping, helping, dress up, a pet dog, make believe, flying.

Fun sweet story for girls and boys
One of my 4-year-old's favorite books! We've bought multiple copies to give friends too. A great story for kids who love superheroes, dogs, imaginative play, and lively friendships.

Great books
Love all the books in this series. I am a preschool teacher and we read these and talk about our imagination and playing outdoors without devices

May not be appropriate for public schools
I teach social-emotional skills to kindergarten and first grade. I bought this book to read to the students for my lessons on solving problems, fair ways to play and inviting others to play. It addresses these goals nicely and I really like how it encourages unstructured, imaginative free play. However, because I work for a school district and I believe most districts have safety rules and possibly even zero tolerance policies like ours, I have a problem with the part of this book where Bumblebee Boy picks up a stick to use as his stinger and carries it around with him. One picture shows them running while he is swinging the stick over his head. Another picture shows the stick tucked beside him while they are swinging on swings. Another page shows and tells about him stinging the Mean Robot (tire swing) with his stinger (stick) again and again. I am a Baby Boomer and grew up with no seat belts or bike helmets so I'm not some safety fanatic. I would have no problem reading this to a child at home. That said, if the intended use is for a public school, this is probably not a good choice. I can't find a way of ignoring those parts so I may need to return this otherwise adorable book. I wish I had noticed the stick on the cover before I ordered it and that the stick being used as a "weapon" had been included in the Sneak Peak.

I read this to my four year old son - it is one of his favorites! It's a great book that shows kids using their imaginations and finding ways to play together even when they can't agree.

E' il terzo libro di questa serie che acquisto: non mi delude mai! Le storie di Ladybug girl sono sempre carine ed avvincenti. Questa in particolare è adatta anche a dei maschietti.

This is an excellent book. It is very good on the dynamics of friendship and the imagination and problem-solving skills of children; it is beautifully drawn; and above all, effortlessly balanced on gender.
