Grappling hook for emergencies
I am an avid hiker and backpacker who also has a bug-out bag for emergencies. I bought this grappling hook in case I needed to climb or hang something. To be honest, I am not a professional climber, but this hook can supposedly hold up to 750 lbs -- more than strong enough for a person.I paired the hook with a sturdy paracord and looked up how to tie it. Next, I had to practice how to swing the hook so that it would attach to my intended area up on the rocks, and I was then able to climb up without issues. Great! The product was easy to fold back up and put into the included pouch, and it now sits in my emergency bag in case I ever had to use it. The only gripe I have is that it's quite heavy, but at least it's heavy-duty.If you found this review helpful, please hit the "Yes" button to encourage me to write more. Thank you!

Solid, heavy... weird.
Grappling hooks are what they are. For most (999 out of 1000) people this is going to be a novel and fun item but not really a great safety item. There are certain kinds of climbing you can and cannot do with a grappling hook. It's not great for just throwing it up and hoping it catches rocks or bushes because you don't know if it has a secure hold. Which means you can't trust your life on a rope attached to a grappling hook. Even if it seemed very secure, if the grappling hook came loose and fell, it would take your head off.I use it for climbing when I can physically lift my nephew up into some rocky area and then he can set the grappling hook by hand. Which is better than asking him to tie a good knot on something. It works much better in certain kinds of trees with very specific size branches. Where you can see what the grappling hook is attached to. Again there's probably people that know how to use a grappling hook better than I do. In the end, it mostly looks cool... but is a rather heavy device to pack around. So it's great if you want to look cool but I don't think this is a serious tool for recreational climbing use.

Made to take a beating....
This thing is great. It's a great design, easy to use and incredibly well made. Machined out of pretty heavy duty stainless steel. This is no crabbing hook, this thing is made to climb almost anything..... So far I've threw it on a tree branch and my favorite local crag, both to my surprise I had success...... May have taken more then a few throws to land it exactly where I wanted it, but it held up almost without a scratch. And let me tell you, lol, it took a beating. The best part is it's made to grip and hold safely but at the same time it never got stuck so I was able to retrieve the hook. Overall a great, well made product.

Impulse buy that felt great!
So I did not see a future need for this, but I bought it anyways. You know just in case ( not sure what that is but hopefully I will figure that out). I was sold on one of the customer pictures of it holding in between a tree and a branch. It is larger than I expected. The quality is on point. You can lock it open or use it as a gravity hook, and lastly lock it closed when not in use. It has a good weight and is easy to throw. I looked at other models and my concern was how far it expands to catch. This was a great purchase. Very happy and would highly recommend.Update: Was trimming trees branches above my head and did not want to have them fall on me. Used this device to hold them up and away. Was fast to latch on and off. Worked great!

Great for climbing buildings!
I have used this grappling hook about four times now for climbing rooftops. It has held up to 160lbs so far with no issue. It is heavy but doesn’t weigh down my hiking/climbing pack too much. My only dislike is that when you go to turn it closed it doesn’t lock into place.**PLEASE DO NOT climb buildings or rooftops unless you are an EXPERIENCED climber. I have 6-7 years of climbing under my belt. You are not Batman because you bought a grappling hook.**

Amazing!
Holy crap y’all this thing is legit! I don’t use it for rocking climbing so I can’t say on how it would handle for they. However, I use them when magnet fishing to help pull up objects that are too heavy for my magnet. This grappling hook has pulled up so many objects that were just way too much for my magnets. The claws seems strong and don’t flex under heavy pressure. I would highly recommend this if you are need

Junk if exposed to moisture
After research I was totally sold on this hook based on Stainless steel construction. After sitting in my truck for two years I finally had a need to use it and was totally shocked to see that "STAINLESS STEEL" is rusted. Looks like typical Chinese lie. Used magnet to check and no surprise- it is not stainless steel. Extremely disappointed with my purchase and loosing confidence in Amazon.

Did Not Have Pouch As Shown
Grappling hook seems to be well made but I'm tired of getting ripped of by misleading product info.Look, if picture shows a pouch it better be included I messaged seller...NO RESPONSEWith this grappling hook you really need storage due to the sharp edges it has.

Nice
Haven't used it much so far. Only to rescue a shopping trolley from White River, but the hook is awesome, and the cord took the weight well, both pulling the trolley dam to shore and climbing back up the bank.

Grappling hook
Grappling appears to be well made, good and strong. Nice size and weight perfect to keep in rucksack or car. Rope is a bit on the thin side in my opinion though but usable. Would have been nice if came with a carry case, non the less its well worth the money.

Exceptionally poor quality - avoid!
No instructions are supplied, and after find a single line in an FAQ section on this website to "turn the cap", this wasn't possible, so completely seized. Returned as defective and not fit for purpose. Certainly wouldn't trust my life to it.
