This makes motorized compactors look really dumb. If you've ever owned an electric motorized trash compactor, you might know what I'm talking about. I've never found them to be worth much because they're so expensive, need special bags, and I've had bad luck with them breaking. They also don't work like regular trash cans. Not the case with this! I was really surprised at how much you can compact trash just by hand. Maybe not as much as a motorized one, but VERY close and for a lot less money. This trash can is very well-designed without being too gimmicky. There's another one I saw that looked good, but you needed to buy special bags and this was available at a better price (open box). There's smart touches like high-density foam underneath the handle on the top, where your knuckles might otherwise get bruised. It's very well thought-through. It's also just a well-designed step can, crushing aside. I was afraid the lid might be too heavy, but everything works great. It's also very nice-looking, as trash cans go. I think it's a great value; it's as nice as fancy stainless trash cans people regularly pay $100 that are JUST step cans. It looks and feels like a quality step can, so you can use it just like you would any other durable step can this size. You can definitely just use regular kitchen trash bags with this. It might be a good idea to get bags that are a little heavier weight (pushing the trash around is going to stress the bag more), but I haven't had much trouble with using good quality drawstring bags (nothing special). I bought this open-box/returned, and it was dented in the front (I knew this when buying it). With that being said, it must've gone through something crazy because I wouldn't say it's easy to dent, at all. All of the materials are heavy gauge; it's sturdier than I was expecting it to be, even if I had paid full price. I've had it for a month or two and it feels like the kind of thing that's not going to break easily. My only complaint is that the inner can that holds the trash bag in place is a bit flimsy. That was damaged in my open-box unit as well, and unlike the dent in the front, I could definitely see why that happened. The plastic on these parts is a bit too thin and whoever had it before me had broken it. It still works to hold the bag, though, so that's a bit impressive, in a way. It's the only part of it I think would be likely to break under normal circumstances, and if it does it still works just fine! All in all, this is great. It's really surprising how much room you can save just by manually compacting the trash, and it's a really good trash can, those qualities aside.

We have had our TK10 just a year and five months and Soft-Close feature just broke. Now every time we open it the lid slams down and many times so hard that the compactor paddle dislodges and falls into the nasty garbage. You can't give a good report when the can of that cost lasts less than 18 months. FYI: it is just my wife and I and we are senior citizens. The can has not been handled in a rough manner.

Tired of having your spouse tell you to take out the garbage when you’re already half way out the door? Many an argument have been caused by the burden of taking out ones rubbish receptacle. Sure, this little miracle of a garbage can will save you lots of money by limiting the amount of garbage bags you’ll need to buy... but the real magic is this little cans ability to not ruin ones life. How might you ask? Simple. Before this can entered my life I went through 4 garbage bags a week. With those 4 bags came 4 trips to the big garbage can I keep near the garage. I know many of you out there either get told to take out the garbage or do the telling. And I know many of you hate taking it out because the one telling you to do it probably loves bossing you around. With this can I now use 1 bag per week. I take 1 trip per week to the big can I keep near the garage on the day the garbage man comes to pick it up. I buy One 50 count box of the scented white bags which will now last me 50 weeks... or 2 weeks shy of a year. The black bears that used to destroy my outside garbage can (and leave me a mess scattered all over the yard to clean up) do not like this new can because there is nothing for them to rummage through anymore. Maybe you don’t have bears where you live but you do have a bossy partner. Take back your freedom and take away the pleasure of being a miserable bossy person to your lovely significant other. Buy this can. Save your relationship. Save your money. Stop giving dangerous wildlife a reason to visit your home.

I wanted a trash compactor but didn't have thousands to spend. When I found this I really hoped it would offer me a good middle ground. It doesn't. I should have listened to the reviewers who reported that the "compactor" doesn't do as good as job as just using your foot. It doesn't. We never use it. Not only does not "compact", it's gross, because your pushing your arm into a bag of trash! The compactor doesn't work well enough to keep you clean as you push it down. Also, finding proper trash bags has been difficult. It does LOOK nicer than a typical garbage can, and it easier to clean, but for over $200 I wouldn't say it worth the limited benefits.

I deliberately waited a while to write this review. I needed a trash compactor but did not want to give up a kitchen cabinet. My first reaction when I put it together was huh? I didn't think it was going to work and was planning to return it. But I gave it a try and it worke beautifully. A lot of our trash is paper and other items easily compressed. Note that the thing you use to compress is not attached to the trash can when you do the compression - and the amount of compression force is limited to how hard you can push. But once you get used to it, you'll love it if you're used to overloading your garbage pickup. I get the same amount of trash I'd normally get in three trash bags in one. I use the normal Kirkland drawstring 13 gallon bags - haven't needed extra strong ones. This is a completely manual device. Only thing I've noticed is if you don't make sure you pull the compressor til it clicks it may fall into the trash can.

Awesome Design! Trash Krusher TK10XL 50L It Does as Described. Saves Room in our Main City Trash Bin as the city changed out our waste bins and it holds way less trash then before. The Trash Krusher saves us Many Hassles. Also Bonus the Black Stainless Steel Is Sharp Looking too! Now I prefer the Black Stainless steel over the Chrome stainless. Also when I know I am going to be using the trash can a lot for instance when I am working in the kitchen I will set the lock on the lid to open. Price is Great too! As we were going to buy a Trash Compactor at a store here but that was out of the question price was $700.00 to $1000.00 That is sad If you received a damaged Trash Krusher if it was me I would have them send me a new one & take back the broken one. Also I use the regular tall kitchen garbage bags & and I stretch the top edges in several different places carefully so as not to rip the bag, then the bag fits around the top that way I don't have to buy special bags.

I don’t expect any product to be sold with pre-existing damage at this price point.

This was a pricey purchase. However, I wanted a compactor somewhat but not on an industrial scale and outlandish prices. This is really a beautiful and yet functional buy. Highly recommend. Makes my place looks stylish.

Totally over priced 40l garbage can. The "com[action device is the lid. you use the lid to squish the garbage then wash it off. No mechanical advantage at all, The "Bag locking mechanism" is just a hole in the inner bin, that you can pull the bag thru. Nice looking can, but not worth the $250.00. Admittedly, did not read the description well, must have been looking at another can (with a mechanical compacter) and bought this one.

Nice size...well enclosed too. It's amazing how seldom I need to empty it.
