Timex Expedition Scout Cream Dial Leather Strap Men's Watch TW4B09200

I got this for my husband’s birthday. He has several watches, and wears this one only since he got it. He loves that he can see the time in the dark and he can see it well. He had one before. It is a time piece that has stood the test of time.

The watch.I bought the cream dial version. I wanted a newer watch since my 15 year old , 15 year beating, Timex expedition winder broke and could not find the same style watch, though the Timex Expedition Arcadia comes very close.This watch is 40mm which is a bit big for my tastes, but seems to be the norm these days. My old watch was 36 or 37mm but fit my wrist just right. the 40mm size seems too big. This is partly due to the size of the face and crystal which is much bigger than my old watch.I've only had this watch a few days. Comparisons aside, this watch looks nice enough. The light color of the hands on the watch style I chose are very light. So much so that they blend in with the background printing which makes it a bit difficult to read the time with a very quick glance. The hands on the style I picked do indeed glow, but I had to stick the watch right under a light bulb to get them to glow. They don't seem to glow after being under casual light.I did not buy this watch for the use of the chronograph, but rather, for the style of the chronograph. I did reset the chrono a few time to see how it works but the larger dial hand, (minute hand), does not reset back to 12 exactly. It stops at the 2 minute before 12 position every time. The buttons for the chronograph seem a bit clunky in operation. I had to press a few times, and hard, to get the chrono to work and reset. I also notice that quite frequently the larger sweep second hand is frozen by some mysterious, non intentional pressing of one of the chrono buttons. Guess that is why they are hard to push to avoid this happening, though it has happened a few times.I know for the price, the chrono may be more of a style feature and that is fine. Again, I didn't buy this watch for the use of the chrono.Overall it's a decent looking watch but I'm not sure it works for me. I work in construction and my old Timex, 'took a licking and kept on ticking', but this one, though larger and thicker, seems to be a bit more frail. We'll see.Update 12.29.19This is a 42mm watch. A similar Timex that I was looking at is 40mm which caused my confusion.The misaligned chrono hands are now aligned thanks to the setting instructions that I had to download from Timex. I've upgraded from 3 to 4 stars now that the hands are lined up. I may still not ever use the chrono, but it's nice to know it works better now.Although I was about to send this back because of the size, I've decided to keep and wear it. After spending way too mcuh time looking for a replacement, the price point and style of this watch works for me at the moment. In the future i will look at 40mm or smaller watches.

Good-looking watch. There are no directions for resetting everything. I was able to figure it out however. Ordering and shipping went perfectly. Set the watch on atomic time and so far in one week it keeps perfect time.

Awesome watch with huge knob that gets caught on everything. I lost this watch several times putting on or taking off my backpack when the backpack strap caught the knob and tore the watch off my arm. Then something got caught on the knob and tore it out completely. I noticed it when the time was wrong and there was no knob to adjust the time. Great watch. Terrible design. The knob sticks out, has sharp edges, and grabs on anything that passes near it. Stupid watch lasted less than two months.

Crown and stem fell out the 2nd day.

There were no instructions. I was unable to set the date. The hands do not glow. It was disappointing.

Pros:Se ve bien, no es pesado, la correa es cómoda, preciso, y las manecillas brillan bien en la obscuridadContras: un poco alto, así que a veces estorba al ponerse cierta ropa, no trae manual (se puede encontrar en la página de Timex) por lo que el uso del cronógrafo no es muy evidente

My first watch was a Timex 40 years ago - and this is a lovely watch I have to say - stylish - but casual - a great everyday watch.
