TOFL Boat Shoe Lacing Needle

The length is nice. You can only use with small width laces. I tried to use with the bigger width lace wouldn't work.

This works great but you have to push the tool really hard. I used a piece of plastic in my palm

Product seems great, leather lace easily installed into needle. However, it didn't work for us because the needle was too large to fit through the grommets on youth Sperrys (youth size 1 shoe for reference, so not infant or toddler sizes).

One of my dogs is fond of chewing on the laces on my Topsider deck shoes, she keeps after them until there's nothing left to tie together. I tried the taping the old laces to the new laces as some YouTube videos claim is super duper easy. Maybe it's just me, but it was not as easy as proclaimed. This needle works like a champ though. You do need to cut the lacing at a sharp angle to get it into the needle and to stay in, after that a bit of massaging of the tunnel for the lacing as you draw the needle and lacing through and you're done faster and more easily than you'd think. After I finished the 2 pair that needed laces replaced it was tempting to do the other pairs too but I'll wait for the dog to chew them down first. My replacement laces came from Brettunsvillage.com, they have all kinds of fun colors besides the standard black or brown.

Needles fit the job in repairing some LLBean moccasins.

It seemed like it would be impossible to re-lace the boat shoes, but this tool made it quick and easy.

I used this tool for restringing leather boot laces and deck shoe side laces. It makes the job much easier. I suggest watching the YouTube video on how to use it.

If your lace is leather you can screw it into the end. If your lace is a shoelace or string, you will have to tape the lace to the needle before you can use it. Great invention and time saver!!!! Dave Nelson

This is a very useful needle for lacing deck shoes. It is extremely expensive but is very slender and will fit through all lace holes.

I ordered this leather lacing needle from TOFL but after nearly a month it was still shown as Not Yet Shipped. I contacted Amazon by online chat and they said that they would contact the seller and instruct them to issue a refund. In the light of this I ordered another one direct from Dubarry, the maker of the boat shoes for which I needed the needle. I had not realised that I could get one from Dubarry until I thought to check, and to my surprise and pleasure it was not only cheaper than TOFL but actually included replacement laces as well, and it arrived within 2 days.A few days later I received from TOFL not a refund but the needle I had originally ordered, which by this time was totally useless as I had already received the Dubarry one. I contacted TOFL three times to ask them to sort this out, i.e. arrange a return or refund, but they refused even to acknowledge my emails.Altogether I am appalled by the conduct and attitude of TOFL. Obviously I would never buy from them again and certainly would not recommend them to anyone else.
