Why are these so expensive? they cost 3x-4x more than the aqua-tainer storage, and actually store less water. is there a reason anyone could share?

These are heavy duty water containers meant to live through a lot of abuse by the military and by all of us whitewater rafters, they take a beating but are tough. This isn't something you will find in a wal-mart. They are made out of a much thicker material and meant to last for years. I hope that helps! Kindly, Renee

Anybody figure out the threading on the pour spout?? Spout is 3/4" diameter but different from conventional garden hose threading.

3/4 npt. you can get a 3/4 npt to garden hose adapter on amazon

Has anyone purchased these from the seller/shipper spreetail? Are they authentic?

Authentic? I do not know. Superbly built, heavy duty water cans? Absolutely. I use these camping on the desert, bolted to my Jeep trailer. It takes hard use and extreme conditions without issue and still looks new.
